INSTALLATION AND SETUP

Drive Configuration

Drive Configuration
Contact with hazardous voltage could result in death or serious injury.
Do not attempt to modify DIP switch or potentiometer settings until power has been
removed and 5 minutes have passed to allow internal voltage to discharge.
Do not power on or use the drive with the cover removed.

Motor Type Selection

Franklin Electric 2-Wire Submersible Motor Series (DIP SW1 – Positions 1–7)
When using a Franklin Electric submersible motor, SW1 – Positions 6 and 7 must be in the DOWN
position.
Select a single DIP switch from SW1 that corresponds with the motor/pump hp being used. The
corresponding hp values are printed above the SW1 diagram on the shield.
Selecting none or more than one switch will result in an Invalid Configuration fault.
Submersible PSC Pumps (DIP SW1 – Position 6)
When using a submersible PSC style motor, SW1 – Position 6 (PSC) must be in the UP position.
When the drive is configured to operate a submersible PSC style pump, SW1 – Positions 1-5 must
be used to set the correct MAX AMPS motor overload current to properly protect the motor. Refer to
"Maximum Amps (DIP SW1 – Positions 1–5)" on page 25
Surface Pumps (DIP SW1 – Position 7)
When using a surface/centrifugal style pump, SW1 – Position 7 (CEN) must be in the UP position.
When the drive is configured to operate a surface style pump, SW1 – Positions 1-5 must be used to
set the correct MAX AMPS motor overload current to properly protect the motor. Refer to
Amps (DIP SW1 – Positions 1–5)" on page 25
NOTE: If SW1 – Position 7 (CEN) is in the UP position, the drive will be configured for a surface
pump regardless of the position of SW1 – Position 6.
Motor Voltage
Select motor voltage using SW1 – Position 8. Place switch in the UP position for 115 V and DOWN
when using a 230 VAC motor.
IMPORTANT: Drive input voltage and motor nameplate voltage MUST match. Selecting the wrong
motor voltage will result in improper system operation or faults.
