1.2
Explosion groups:
– In the case of a few protection types, some equipment assigned to Group II and III, which is intended
for use in potentially explosive gas or dust atmosphere, is assigned according to the type of potentially
explosive area in which they are to be deployed. This equipment is assigned to explosion groups
IIA, IIB and IIC as well as IIIA, IIB and IIC.
—
Group II (gas):
IIA: propane, acetone, ammonia
IIB: ethylene, city gas
IIC: hydrogen, acetylene, carbon bisulphide
—
Group III (dust):
IIIA: combustible suspended matter
IIIB: combustible suspended solids and non-conductive dust
IIIC: combustible suspended matter, non-conductive dust and conductive dust
—
MANNESMANN DEMAG air motors with explosion group II are superior to gas groups IIA, IIB and IIC
as well as dust groups IIIA, IIIB, IIIC and can therefore be installed and used in those subcategories.
– If the motor is part of an assembly where the components have different ATEX codes, the component
with the lowest level of safety defines the ATEX code of the whole assembly.
