1.4 Contraindications and side effects

The PARI O-PEP must not be used by individuals who are
coughing up blood or suffering from pneumothorax, right ven-
tricular insufficiency or tuberculosis.
The following side effects can occur: dizziness, barotrauma, pul-
monary overinflation.
If you notice any of these side effects, discontinue the treatment
immediately. Contact your doctor or therapist to discuss how to
proceed with treatment.
Inform your doctor or therapist if you notice any side effects that
are not listed in these instructions for use.

1.5 Instructions for application

The product contains small parts. Small parts can block the res-
piratory tract and lead to a choking hazard. Therefore, make
sure that you always keep this product, particularly the steel ball,
out of the reach of babies and infants.
Children and anyone who requires assistance must be super-
vised constantly by an adult when using the PARI O-PEP. This is
the only way to ensure safe and effective treatment. Individuals
in this group often underestimate the hazards involved (e.g.
strangulation with the strap), thus resulting in a risk of injury.
The PARI O-PEP cannot be used with a mask. Masks have
expiratory valves through which the exhaled air escapes, so it
would not get into the PARI O-PEP. Respiratory therapy is there-
fore not possible with a mask.
The PARI O-PEP is made from a material that is impact-resistant
but not unbreakable. Therefore, protect it from impacts and take
care to prevent it from falling.
