After Distraction (Consolidation Phase)

We recommend a consolidation phase of six to eight weeks, depending on patient
conditions. Longer consolidation phases reduce the risk of retrodisplacement (retraction or
relapse).
To ensure best distraction results, the distraction system may only be removed after
complete ossification (consolidation) has been achieved.
Upon completion of the consolidation phase, all distractor components must be removed.
The nature and scope of the postoperative treatment and/or rehabilitation measures must
be determined by the treating physician according to patient needs.
Optional: consolidation bar
V. 1.2
Using the consolidation bar (1) is a treatment
option for increased patient convenience during
the consolidation phase.
To mount the optional consolidation bar,
proceed as follows:
Fasten the bar fixation clamps (2, for details
see page16) direct to the corresponding pin
holding clamp (3).
Insert the consolidation bar (1). Adjust the
bar fixation clamp (2) to the correct angle,
then fix it in this position by tightening the
fixing nut (4) with the vector adjustment
screwdriver (section 10.3 "Instruments",
page 40).
Repeat these steps for the second bar
fixation clamp (5).
