Instructions for Use
3DX External Distraction System
13
Intraoperative Procedure
The intraoral approach must be performed according to the current state of scientific
•
knowledge.
It is the surgeon's responsibility to assess whether there is adequate bone stock available,
•
in volume and density, to anchor the pin pairs securely.
Thereafter, check that the distraction arms are long enough. If necessary, the distraction
•
arms can be exchanged to ensure sufficient length.
Mark the osteotomy line in advance, taking existing dental roots and germs into account.
•
Preparing the distraction systems
•
Put the pin holding clamp in place on the distraction arm and tighten the green distraction
screw (2) using the patient screwdriver (see section 10.3 "Instruments", page 40).
•
Adjust the distraction system to the patient's anatomy in advance as precisely as possible,
taking the planned position of the two pin pairs and the planned distraction vectors into
account. For details on the required instruments, see section 10.3 "Instruments", page 40.
V. 1.2
To replace a distraction arm (1), remove the
•
corresponding pin holding clamp (3) in a
first step by putting the patient screwdriver
(see section 10.3 "Instruments", page 40)
in place on the distraction screw (2) and
turning the screwdriver clockwise until the
entire clamp element can be taken off.
To remove the entire arm from the
•
distractor body, manually loosen the
knurled nut (4) at the end of the distraction
arm.
To fix the distraction arm on the distractor
•
body, connect the arm to the distractor
body and tighten the knurled nut (4).
