5. MAINTENANCE
• Well-maintained protective equipment and safety systems last longer!
• When not in use, remove the runners from the climbing protection system.
• Dirty runners should be cleaned with a damp cloth. Other detergents should not be used.
• Air-dry damp runners; do not use a heat source.
• Do not bring the runners into contact with aggressive substances (e.g. oil, grease, acid, solvents or
other chemicals)
• Do not use any grease; the bearings are permanently greased ball bearings. Hinges, however, should
be lightly greased.
6. STORAGE
Dry the runners and store them away from light. Transport in a tool box or bag
7. REPAIRS
Repairs should only be undertaken by the manufacturer.
Safety systems, devices or protective equipment that have been damaged or involved in a fall should be
taken out of use immediately and checked by an expert or by the manufacturer.
8. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS AND TRAINING
For the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) against falls, the operator must produce operating
instructions containing all the necessary information for the safe use of the equipment, in particular
the dangers corresponding to the hazard labelling, conduct when using the PPE and what to do if any
defects are identified.
There must be a rescue plan taking into account any potential emergency situations that may occur du-
ring the work. Users of PPE must be trained in using the equipment. Training must be provided at least
once a year, or more frequently if required.
The company to which the user belongs is responsible for producing documentation and recording all
the necessary information.
9. REGULAR CHECKS
Regular checks are necessary, since the safety of the user depends on the effectiveness and durability
of the equipment. We recommend that you keep a written record of these checks. SKYLOTEC provides
„HOMEBASE" for this purpose.
The operator must ensure that the climbing protection system and the runners are checked by a qualified
person according to the precise manufacturer's instructions to ensure that they are in perfect working
condition. This check should take place at least once a year or as required by legal requirements, fre-
quency of use, environmental conditions and operational conditions. The legibility of product labelling
should also be checked at the same time.
