Manual de-scaling of the cell

If scale builds up on the electrodes over time despite regular inversion of the polarity, the electrodes should
be de-scaled as follows:
1.
Disconnect the cell and gas sensor from the control panel,
2.
Isolate the by-pass loop on which the cell is mounted by closing the by-pass inlet and outlet valves
fully,
3.
Unscrew the cell head and remove the electrodes from the cell body,
4.
Soak the electrodes in a bucket containing distilled vinegar or 10% Hydrochloric acid,
5.
Wait until the scale has been completely dissolved (bubbling stops),
6.
If scale is still present, empty the bucket and add more vinegar or acid,
7.
Rinse the electrodes with water,
8.
Reassemble the head of the cell on the body making sure that the o-ring is correctly positioned.
9.
Reconnect the cell and the gas sensor to the control panel.

Winterizing

8.4.1 Passive winterizing
In the event that filtration is shut down completely during winter, proceed as follows to avoid damage that
could be caused by freezing and/ or the build up of algae.
Close the 2 sectional valves of the by-pass loop on which the cell and the pump are mounted.
Peristaltic pump
- Rinse the pump tubes to remove acid as follows:
Carefully remove the end of the suction tube from the acid storage tank and submerge it in a bucket
filled with water.
Run the pump.
When at least half of the bucket has been emptied, stop the pump
- Disconnect the acid suction tube from the pump.
- Carefully disconnect the injection tube from the cell, and allow the water from the pump circuit to empty
into the bucket.
The cell
Fully purge the by-pass loop on which the cell is mounted.
The sensors
- Disconnect the control panel electrical supply.
- Disconnect the sensors in the control panel.
- Close the sectional valves on the by-pass loop on which the sensors are mounted.
- Remove the sensors and place them in their flasks of buffer solution as on delivery, store them in a
location protected from freezing.
8.4.2 Active winterizing
Disconnect the control panel power supply.
Equipment can be left in place subject to the condition that winterizing chemicals are added to the pool
water to prevent the growth of algae, and filtration runs every day.
Filtration must notably run when the ambient temperature in the plant room where the material is installed
drops to +2°C or below.
