SOCKET CONSTRUCTION GUIDELINES

The following socket materials are recommended to ensure long-term

liner function:

• All PETG materials

• Laminated sockets

• Thermoplastic inner socket materials with a smooth surface

• EVA inner socket materials

The inner surface of the socket must be airtight and as smooth as

possible, irrespective of socket material.

To achieve the smoothest surface possible on the plaster positive model,

it is recommended to use a fine abrasive for final smoothing, followed by

silicone spray.

Using a soft/ smooth socket lining material will prolong the sealing

function.

The Icelock 562 Hybrid is essential for liner function and must be

laminated in the socket distally. Refer to Icelock 562 Hybrid "Instructions

for Use" for details.

SOCKET DONNING

Precaution: Don an Iceross Seal-In X Seal ring before donning the socket.

Do not use alcohol spray or other lotions with the Iceross Seal-In X Seal

before donning the socket.

With the liner and seal ring correctly configured, simply step into the

socket, expelling all air until attachment pin fully engages lock (Fig. 10).

SOCKET FIT

Achieving the intended function of the liner is dependent on the fit of the

hard socket. Appropriate socket design is essential to achieve

suspension, control, and comfort.

Follow the checklist to control socket fit:

• User can easily don the socket without the use of lubricant aids.

• Full contact between the Iceross Seal-In X Seal and the socket inner

wall.

• No air pockets develop when the user loads the prosthesis.

• Good proximal fit.

• No pistoning in the socket.

• No visible movement when pulling on the prosthesis.

• Good rotational stability.

• Full movement possible without compromising distal vacuum.

Precaution: If feedback indicates any of the above conditions are not met,

the socket will need to be adjusted or remade accordingly.
