Pos. 1 Mains switch/
mains voltage selector switch
The machine is turned on and off by means of
this switch. At the same time it functions as
voltage switch between two voltages.
A stop screw ensures that the machine can be
connected to one voltage only so that the
switch is not mistakenly turned to the wrong
side thus causing damage to the machine.
When installing the machine it must be en-
sured that the stop screw is correctly set for
the voltage to be used.
Pos. 2 Infinitely variable current control
This control knob allows the accurate setting
of the required welding current.
Pos. 3 Infinitely variable hot start
This function is used for increasing the starting
current when welding with coated electrodes
(MMA welding - Manuel Metal Arc welding).
The control knob can be positioned to
increase the rated welding current by a
specified percentage in order to provide a
one-second surge of current every time the
arc is started when MMA welding.
This function assists striking of the electrode
and helps reducing of weld defects, and
operates only when MMA welding.
Pos. 4 Switch for arc power and internal/external
current control
The switch has two functions, one to choose
between
regulating
through current control pos. 2, through a re-
mote control, which is connected at the
remote control socket, or through the knob at
the TIG torch handle, and one to choose bet-
ween three welding characteristics, one verti-
cal and two with increased short-circuit cur-
rent.
In this way it is possible to choose the
characteristic best suited for the chosen type
of electrode. When TIG welding the knob is
set for vertical characteristic.
Pos. 5 Remote control socket for connection of
remote control
A wide range of remote controls is available to
meet different requirements. See pages 16
and 17.
INSTRUCTIONS
the
welding
current
The following only applies to the LIFTIG AND
LEHF versions
Pos. 6 Infinitely variable slope down
With this control knob you set the time during
which the set welding current will decay to the
minimum output of the machine. The time is
variable from 0-10 secs. Crater formation at
the end of a weld seam can be prevented by
using this control.
Pos. 7 Infinitely variable post-weld gas flow
With this control knob the post-weld gas flow
is set between 2 and 20 secs.
Pos. 8 Function switch
This switch is used for choosing between:
2-times:
You can TIG weld for as long as the torch is
held down, and from releasing of the button
until the slope down time has expired.
4-times:
Self hold. At the first pressure on torch the
button the welding starts. After this you can
let go of the button and the welding continues
until the second pressure, which activates the
slope down control making the welding current
slowly decay. When you let go of the button,
or when the slope down time has expired the
welding stops.
