8.5 CLEANING THE FLUE

In normal operating conditions, the flue should be cleaned
every 40 quintals of wood burnt or at least every two
years, unless regulated differently.
At any rate, clean at least once a year. When
cleaning we suggest removing the smoke diaphragm
from the smoke outlet to enable the soot to fall, to
be replaced once cleaned. (See Chapter 6.4)
Warning! If the diaphragm is not put back there would
be a strong depression (forge effect)and the wood would
burn too quickly and irregularly.
8.5.1 POOR SMOKE DRAUGHT
If this occurs the first times you light the wood
insert, check that the flue is not clogged with
masonry debris, birds'
the chimney top. Furthermore, the flue should be
connected according to the instructions, without
any chokes and with the flue fittings hermetically
sealed. If this problem occurs after a period of
normal operation check and clean the flue.
