EN | INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Opening the proGAV 2.0 Compass reveals a
template that can be used to localise the valve
in the patient's head using the index finger
(Fig. 4).
Fig. 4: Localising the valve
The proGAV 2.0 Compass template is then
placed centred over the valve. The "proximal"
and "distal" direction markings show the flow
direction.
2. Test procedure
If you now fold the Compass down, the pres-
sure stage is automatically displayed.

In addition to the proGAV 2.0 Compass, there
is a further option for checking the set open-
ing pressure. The proGAV Compass (Fig. 6) is
placed on the skin over the implanted valve
and moved in small circles until the inner disc
is firmly aligned. The opening pressure corre-
sponds to the value displayed in the direction
of the ventricular catheter.
NOTE
Small air bubbles in the compass chamber
do not impair its function.

3. Adjustment process
WARNING
When adjusting the proGAV 2.0 differential
pressure unit, care must be taken that the
opening pressure is changed by a maxi-
mum of 8 cmH
otherwise errors can occur.
Example: The opening pressure is to be
changed from 3 to 18 cmH
method is an adjustment in two stages: Ini-
tial adjustment from 3 to 11 cmH
subsequently from 11 to 18 cmH
The proGAV 2.0 Adjustment Tool is centred
over the valve. With the index finger, the valve
is easy to identify by touch using the recess
in the middle of the tool so that the tool is
correctly placed. When doing so, the required
pressure stage must be displayed on the scale
in the direction of the valve inlet or the ventricle
catheter. The rotor brake is released by lightly
pressing the index finger on the adjustment unit
and the pressure level of the proGAV 2.0 is
changed.
