Thank you for purchasing the SUPERTYPE cassette sprokets, a
product that offers both safety and functionality over time.
Choosing a SUPERTYPE cassette sprokets for your bicycle is a to-
ken of the genuine passion you have for high-performance cycling,
while searching for this type of products sets you apart from ordi-
nary cyclers.
The sprokets are made in heat-treated Ergal 7075 aluminium al-
loy and feature especially CNC-designed and manufactured teeth.
To withstand excessive wear and tear, they underwent a special
"hard" anodizing treatment that gives cogs an anthracite colour
that may take –due to natural causes– slightly different tones.
Available with a number of teeth ranging from z11 to z29, you may
choose first-position cogs featuring 11 to 14 heat-treated and
chrome-plated special steel teeth and last-position cogs with z23,
z25, z27 and z29 teeth.
The following table shows a series of requirements to meet in order
to make the most of a special product such as SUPERTYPE spro-
kets and to allow you to put in the best performances.
Before proceeding with using the Supertype cassette sprokets,
please read carefully the following instruction and store them in a
safe place for eventually reusing

General warnings

(Picture page 7)
The SUPERTYPE cassette sprokets can achieve high performan-
ces only if:
• Your frame meets the dimensions shown in Fig. 1 and Fig. 2. We
recommend having your frame checked by a qualified mechanic or
specialist to see if it meets the necessary specifications.
• Once you are sure that the dimensions of your bicycle are the
right ones, check the gear axle and the rear wheel perpendicularity,
as shown in Fig. 3.
Warning: different frame dimensions and the lack of per-
pendicularity may lead to cog malfunctioning.
• The new cassette sprokets must be fitted only if the
chain is new too. Used chains – even if rarely used – do
no longer offer a precise fit between the teeth and the
links, which could result in cog damage.
• When shifting, reduce the downstroke power of the pe-
dals so that the chain engages smoothly with the sproket.
Besides, if shifting takes place under stress, the life span
and integrity of the cogs will be drastically reduced.
• Carefully clean sprockets after every
use. Using Alloy cassettes with dirty sprockets will dra-
matically reduce the life of the sprockets and adversely
affect their performance.
Assembly
The cassette sprokets is supplied preassembled in the scale that
you chose. The spacers and the lock ring are included.
• Remove the cap of the plastic support.
• Insert the support on the free wheel body, paying attention to
align the grooved profile of the free wheel body with the internal
profile of the cog.
SUPERTYPE CASSETTE SPROCKETS
• Apply a light pressure on the sprokets to allow them to come
out freely from the plastic support, paying attention to position the
first-position cog correctly.
• Once inserted, screw lightly the lock ring in order to lock it defi-
nitively using an appropriate tool and the torque wrench. Apply the
tightening torque shown in the ring.
Warning: make sure to apply the torque indicated on the ring, since
a loose cogset ring could lead to accidents, personal injuries, or
death.

Use and maintenance

• Never wash the pieces with pressure-fed water because water
may get through the seals and cause permanent damage to the
internal components. We recommend washing the SUPERTYPE
components with a sponge, mild soap, and water.
• We recommend having the chain checked for signs of wear every
500 km by a qualified mechanic or specialist, since a stretched
chain may wear the teeth and the whole drive system and cause
"chain jumps".
General remarks on shifting
Even if shifting under extreme conditions is possible, we do not
recommend doing so, because the whole drive system may mal-
function. Wear and tear, noises when pedalling and poor shifting
performance can result. To avoid these problems, we do not re-
commend using the combinations shown in table 1.
These few simple instructions will allow you to make the best use
of your new SUPERTYPE Cassette and ensure, according to labo-
ratory and roads test, a costant derailleur function for some 3.500
km, a good part of season.
