2.3
Requirements for operators
⇒ The product may only be used by persons aged 14 or over who are familiar with the procedures and
en
rules in a dental laboratory
2.4
Safe condition of the unit
Defective, broken or leaking components may cause injuries
⇒ Check the power cord, housing, and other components such as connection cables, tubes, and the oper-
ating panel pad for damage, such as kinks, cracks, porosity, and signs of wear and tear
⇒ Defective equipment must be taken out of service immediately Disconnect the power plug Send the
unit in for repair or dispose of it safely Until then, secure the unit to prevent it from being switched on
again so that it is not used inadvertently
⇒ Do not expose the unit to mechanical impact Do not drop it
2.5
Hazards as a result of modifications and repairs
Improper modifications and repairs to the unit may cause accidents, fire, and electric shock.
⇒ Only have the unit repaired by qualified specialist dealers or return it.
The use of unsuitable accessories or spare parts may result in unpredictable accidents and damage
⇒ Only use accessories and spare parts supplied or approved by Renfert GmbH
2.6
Risk as a result of electric shock and fire
Risk of electric shock and of fire as a result of excessive operating voltage or if there is no protective
conductor
⇒ Ensure that the power plug is easily accessible
⇒ Only operate the unit using a power cord equipped with a plug appropriate to the local power supply
Only have the power cords changed by a qualified electrician.
⇒ Only operate the unit if the information on the type plate matches the power supply
⇒ Only connect the unit to electrical sockets that are connected to the protective conductor system
⇒ Do not extract flammable or explosive gasses, fumes or dust.
⇒ Do not extract hot materials
⇒ The following applications involve increased risks and are therefore not permitted:
When cleaning milling chambers and SLM printing systems by suction, a sufficiently high concentration
and purity (i.e., unmixed with other dental dusts such as plaster, resin) can result in spontaneous com-
bustion or the milling dust or printing powder exploding because of a potential exothermic reaction (eg,
due to oxidation). An alternative cleaning method must be selected, particularly for the following milling
or printing media (e.g., manual cleaning):
• Wood
• Titanium / titanium-aluminum
• Light metals and light metal alloys (e.g., aluminum, magnesium)
• Cobalt-chrome powder (e.g. for use in SLM systems)
If large quantities of light metals such as titanium alloy are processed (e.g., with sandpaper), pro-
ducing very fine grinding dust, a sufficiently high concentration and purity may result in sponta-
neous combustion because of a potential exothermic reaction.
2.7
Risk to health as a result of dust
Dust emissions may result in damage to health
⇒ If the dust extractor is employed to extract hazardous materials, appropriate personal protective gear
must be worn and steps must be taken to ensure that the exhaust air is properly ventilated Refer to the
safety data sheets for the corresponding requirements
⇒ When disposing of the extracted material or used filters, observe local provisions and accident preven-
tion regulations!
⇒ Depending on the type of extracted material, wear appropriate personal protective equipment when
emptying the dust drawer or cleaning
⇒ For connection to a CAM system, observe the operating instructions for the CAM system as well as the
safety instructions that they contain
⇒ Please observe the Safety Data Sheets of the materials to be extracted
⇒ Only extract with the dust drawer closed
