-
Check that the machine has not been damaged in transit.
-
Fix the spur (fig. 8).
-
Fix the tines cover (fig. 12)
-
Fix the engine support pin (where necessary) (fig. 4).
-
Fill the engine oil tank (see engine manual).
-
Check that the oil in the gearbox can be seen through the glass level indicator (fig. 3)
-
Check that the air filter (dry version) is well fixed and add oil into the oil-bath air filter (fig. 5).
-
Check that the clutch cable has a bit of free play (fig. 6)
-
Fill the fuel tank using a funnel with a very fine filter to trap any dirt.
-
Make sure that the gear lever is in neutral.
STARTING THE ENGINE
After having made the above-mentioned controls, carry out the following steps:
-
Push the throttle lever (fig. 6A no. 3) to the halfway position.
-
For petrol engines, open the petrol cock and shut the starter.
-
Start the engine by pulling the pull-starter handle hard (fig. 7).
- Once the engine has been started, re-open the choke (for petrol engines) and gradually move the
throttle lever near to the minimum setting (fig. 6A no. 3).
Let the engine warm up for a few minutes before starting work and do not strain the machine too much
during the first 50 working hours to ensure a good running-in of the machine.
STARTING THE MACHINE
The machine will start by depressing the lever A (fig. 6) and then subsequently on the red lever 2 until it
comes into position 1 (fig. 6). By releasing the red lever, the machine will stop but the engine will keep
running and the lever returns back to position 2. To turn the petrol engine off set the throttle lever (fig.
6A) into the position "0" (OFF). To switch the diesel engine off press the lever located on the handlebar
(fig. 6B). Important: To avoid problems to the clutch during the functioning of the machine, please keep
the red lever firmly depressed. Caution: Do not use the machine whilst only partially depressing the red
lever or damage to the clutch may result!
END OF WORK
To stop the engine set the gear lever into neutral position. For petrol engines, turn off the fuel tap.
Always refer to the engine manual.
CAUTION!
- Disconnect the plug before performing any cleaning, maintenance or repair operation. Always
wear suitable clothing and working gloves.
- When the machine or part of it is lifted to carry out maintenance operations, always remember
to use suitable fixing tools such as holders and safety locks.
- When carrying out maintenance operations and/or when the machine is tilted without safety
locks or supports, never leave it unguarded in places where inexperienced people and children
could have easy access to it.
- Protect the environment: carefully dispose of used oils, petrol and any other pollutant product!
- Effective maintenance and correct lubrication help to keep the machine fully efficient.
The tiller is designed to require very little maintenance. However, in order to keep the machine at its
highest performance please carry out the following operations:
- check that all screws and nuts are always well-tightened, particularly those fixing the tine assemblies
on the shaft, the engine, the tines and the rear support pin.
- lubricate the clutch and throttle cables.
