Switching the Stud Finder On and
Off

Before switching on the Stud Finder, ensure
that the Stud Finder's Sensor Area 9 and
Switch 10 is dry.
If necessary, use a cloth to dry the tool.
If the tool has been exposed to a significant
change in temperature, leave it to adjust to
the ambient temperature before switching it
on.
To switch on the tool, press the Stud Find-
er's Switch 10 against the surface to be in-
spected. There will be an audible click when
the Switch 10 is depressed. Keep the Stud
Finder's Sensor Area 9 flush with the wall
to maintain pressure on the Stud Finder's
Switch 10 and to ensure the tool remains
on. If pressure on the Switch 10 is released,
there will be another audible click.
To switch off the tool, remove the Stud
Finder's Sensor Area 9 from the wall to re-
lease pressure on the Stud Finder's Switch
10. There will be an audible click when the
Switch 10 is released.
Note: Ensure there is no pressure on the
Stud Finder's Switch 10 during storage or
remove the Battery Pack 17 from the tool
during storage. Accidental pressure could
turn on the tool and drain the Battery Pack
17.

Stud Finder Operation
How the Stud Finder Works
(Fig. 23)
The tool checks the base material of the
sensor area up to the maximum detection
depth. Studs are automatically searched for
during each measurement. The Stud Finder
Indicators 11 display its readings.

Acoustic Walls and Ceilings
When scanning a wall or ceiling with an un-
even surface, place thin cardboard on the
surface to be scanned and scan over the
cardboard. Calibrate with cardboard in
place.

SCAN SLOWLY – Move the
tool slowly, sliding in the
direction of the arrows.
