d) Testing the throttle/brake
The positions of the adjusting rings (mechanical limits) and the spring buffer on the throttle and brake linkage are
preset to match the mechanical limits of the carburettor and disc brakes. The throttle/brake linkage should not need
to be readjusted.
However, after extensive use the brake pads may become worn or the adjusting rings may become loose, in which
case they will need to be fixed back into place. If the brake is not configured correctly and makes a grinding noise, the
brake pads and brake disc will wear out quickly.
The throttle/brake linkages do the following:
Full throttle (A): The carburettor valve is fully unplugged and the brake does not function.
Idle (B):
The carburettor valve is completely closed (air gap for idle) and the adjusting rings on the brake
levers are loose. The brake is ready for use, but does not yet function.
Brake (C):
The throttle linkage presses against the spring and the brake linkage presses the brake pads onto
the brake discs.
