7. Battery safety information

Although the use of batteries is part of our everyday lives nowadays, batteries still present numer-
ous safety hazards.
Always observe the following information and safety warnings when handling (rechargeable) bat-
teries.
a) General information
• Keep batteries out of the reach of children.
• Do not leave batteries lying around, as they present a choking hazard for children and pets. Seek im-
mediate medical advice if a battery is swallowed.
• Batteries must never be short-circuited, taken apart or thrown into fire, as this may cause an explosion.
• When handling leaking or damaged batteries, always use suitable protective gloves to avoid burning
your skin.
• Battery liquids are highly corrosive and may cause significant damage to objects or surfaces. Always
store batteries in a suitable location that is not prone to damage.
• Do not attempt to recharge disposable, non-rechargeable batteries. This may cause a fire or explosion!
Only recharge compatible rechargeable batteries and ensure that you use a suitable battery charger.
• Always ensure that the batteries are inserted in the correct polarity (observe the plus/+ and minus/-
symbols).
• If you do not plan to use the model vehicle for an extended period, remove the batteries from the remote
control to prevent them from leaking and causing damage. Completely disconnect the power supply
from the receiver.
• Rechargeable batteries should be charged regularly (approx. once every 2-3 months) to prevent them
from overdischarging. This may result in permanent damage and render the batteries useless. NiMH
rechargeable batteries (except special batteries with a low self-discharge) lose their charge within a
few weeks.
• Always use a battery charger that is compatible with your rechargeable batteries. Incompatible battery
chargers may cause a fire or explosion!
• Rechargeable batteries heat up when charging/discharging (i.e. when driving the vehicle). Wait until the
batteries have reached room temperature before charging them. The same applies after the batteries
have finished charging. Do not use the rechargeable batteries until they have cooled down.
• Always exchange the entire set of batteries in the remote control. Do not mix full batteries with half-full
ones. Always use batteries of the same type and from the same manufacturer.
• Never mix disposable batteries with rechargeable batteries. The remote control can be powered with
disposable or rechargeable batteries.
• Only charge intact and undamaged batteries. Do not charge batteries if the external insulation or battery
housing is damaged, or if the battery is deformed or swollen. This may cause a fire or explosion!
• Never charge batteries immediately after use. Always allow them to cool down for at least 5 - 10 minutes.
