MAINTENANCE
Do not pollute. Follow the guidelines of the EPA or other
governmental agencies for proper disposal of hazardous
materials. Consult local authorities or reclamation facility.
Always use compatible or Westinghouse OEM spark
plugs. Use of resistor-type spark plug can result in
rough idling, misfire, or may prevent the engine from
starting.
Inspect and clean the spark plugs after every 100 hours of
use or six months. Replace the spark plugs after 300 hours
of use or every year.
Put the generator on a level surface and allow the
engine to cool.
See Figure 1. Remove the spark plug boots by firmly
pulling the boot directly away from the engine.
Clean the area around the spark plugs.
Remove the spark plugs with the included spark plug
socket wrench.
Never apply any side load or move the spark plug
laterally when removing the spark plug.
5. Inspect the spark plugs. Replace the spark plug if
the electrodes are pitted, burned, or the insulator is
cracked. Only use a recommended replacement plug.
6. See Figure 2. Measure the spark plug electrode gap
with a wire-type feeler gauge. If necessary, correct the
gap by carefully bending the side electrode.

an additional 3/8 to 1/2 turn with the spark plug wrench.
Attach the spark plug boots.
spark arrestor. Inspect and clean the spark arrestor
after every 100 hours of use or six months. Failure to
clean the spark arrestor will result in degraded engine
performance.
1. Put the generator on a level surface.
2. See Figure 3. emove the carbon deposits from the
spark arrestor screen with a wire brush. The spark
arrestor must be without breaks and tears. Use
compressed air to clear removed deposits.
Have an appropriate gasoline container and rags
Allow the generator to cool completely.
Turn the fuel valve to the OFF position.
