Installing the dust bag
1. Squeeze the clamp ears of the dust bag
and push the clamp until it is completely
snapped into the neck of the dust port.
Then release the clamp ears. To ensure
the dust bag is securely positioned, pull the
dust bag to verify. (Fig. 6).
2. Position dust bag so that it does not
interfere with the tool during the cutting
operation for all miter/bevel settings.
The dust bag requires emptying
NOTICE
when it is full of sawdust. Empty
it frequently and after the completion of sawing.
WARNING
in fine particle form may be explosive. Do not throw sawdust on an open fire. Spontaneous
combustion may, in time, result from mixture of oil or water with dust particles.
3. A standard 1-1/4" vacuum hose can be attached to the dust port for dust collection instead
of the dust bag.
Removal and installation of the
kerf insert (Fig . 7)
WARNING
the kerf insert is not adjusted properly, the
workpiece can catch on the uneven edges,
resulting in binding, which could result in
serious personal injury.
WARNING
installed . The plastic kerf insert is not a
universal part among miter saws. If the kerf
insert is worn, ask an Authorized SKIL Service
Center or Service Station for a replacement
part to help to ensure personal safety.
To remove/replace the kerf insert:
1. Unplug the saw.
2. Remove the screws securing the kerf insert with the supplied Double-Ended Allen Key.
3. Lift the kerf insert from the saw.
4. To reinstall the kerf insert, align the holes in the kerf insert with the holes in the saw base.
5. Retighten the screws, being careful not to overtighten which can cause the kerf insert to
bow or bend.
