Threading 2.1/2" – 4"
1. Place the die set. Refer to installation instructions.
2. Set the cutter and the reamer to UP position
3. Set the exclusion plate to IN position. (Figure 4)
4. Disengage foot IN (Open). (Figure 4)
5. Sinusoidal bar must be set to IN position
(DISENGAGED). (Figure 4)
6. With the die head in DOWN position, push the cam
plate interlock lever UP (Figure 4, step 4) until the
disengage foot engages the die head body.
7. The gearbox lever must be set to the 12 r.p.m
position
NOTE! The gearbox lever is set to the 36 r.p.m when
threading pipes 2" or less. When threading pipes
2.1/2" - 4", the gearbox lever must be set to the
12 r.p.m position.
ADVERTENCIA
The gearbox must only be operated with the machine
running unloaded. Do not move the gearbox lever
while the machine is running under load.
8. Set the switch to the ON position
9. Turn the carriage handle counter clockwise to
bring the die head close to the pipe end with a
continuous movement. The disengage foot will be
released and will operate the reverse mechanism.
Keep pressure on the handle to start the dies.
10. When cutting is completed the reverse mechanism
will open the dies automatically.
NOTE! To remove the die head before thread
completion, undo the size adjustment nut and
manually retract the dies by rotating the cam lever.
Raise the cam plate handle to the disengage foot tab.
Remove the die head and adjust the size again.
11. Set the switch to the OFF position. To retract the
die head, rotate the carriage handle clockwise.
12. Set the die head to the UP position.
Threading die head pipes.
Straight threads
1. Remove the pivot block bolt of the disengage
foot. Turn the disengage foot outwards until the
foot hole is aligned with the pivot block bolt hole.
Replace the bolt by screwing in until it screws into
the disengage foot. (Figure 5).
2. Place and locate the interlock plate (Figure 5).
3. Push the carriage sinusoidal bar towards the
carriage right end and turn the sinusoidal bar tab
until it engages the carriage end hole (Figure 5)
MACHINE PREPARATION
ENGLISH
4. With the die head in the DOWN position, raise the
cam plate interlock lever until the disengage lever
engages the tab (Figure 5).
5. Set the switch to the ON position.
6. Turn the carriage handle until it reaches the pipe
end. Keeping pressure on the handle to start up the
dies.
NOTE! The position of the carriage handle can be
changed for better leverage when starting up the
dies. Pull the handle away from the machine, turn
it to the desired position and push it towards the
machine.
7. When reaching the desired thread length, press
the disengage lever to release the tab. The die
head will open automatically.
8. Set the switch to the OFF position.
9. Retract the die head by turning the carriage
handle clockwise.
10. Move the die head to the UP position.
Changing dies 2"
(Mounting and dismounting dies)
Die heads (Figure 8) for right hand threads require
three die sets for threading pipes from 1/4" to 2".
One die set is required for each of the following size
ranges: (1/4" to 3/8"), (1/2" to 3/4") and (1" to 2").
For threading bolts, a separate die set for each bolt
diameter is required.
1. Place the self opening die head on a bench, in
vertical position.
2. Make sure that the claw assembly is released.
3. Release the holding lever.
4. Pull the slot interlock bolt under the size bar such
that the interlock bolt roller pin goes into the slot.
Place the size bar in such a way that the interlock
bolt reference line is at the bottom of the REMOVE
DIES position.
5. Remove the worn out dies from the die head.
6. Insert the new dies. Die numbers 1 to 4 must
match those on the die head.
7. Rotate the cam plate until the interlock bolt roller
pin can be placed in the slot. In this position, the
dies will be interlocked into the die head. Make
sure that the roller pin points toward the end of the
size bar that bears the mark REMOVE DIES.
8. 8. Set the die head size bar until the interlock bolt
reference line is aligned with the adequate size bar
mark. (For bolt threads, align the reference line with
the size bar line marked BOLT).
