4.2
Intended Use
STIHL pruning shears are designed for cutting
trees, shrubs, bushes, ornamental plants, grape‐
vines and similar woody shrubs with a maximum
stem diameter of 25 and at an average cutting
frequency of up to 12 cuts per minute in vine‐
yards, orchards and for landscaping.
The pruning shears must not be used in the rain.
The pruning shears are not suitable for commer‐
cial use.
The STIHL AS battery supplies power to the
pruning shears.
The STIHL AL 1 charger recharges the
STIHL AS battery.
WARNING
■ Batteries and chargers not explicitly approved
for the pruning shears by STIHL may cause a
fire or explosion. Persons may be seriously or
fatally injured, and property may be damaged.
► Use the pruning shears with a STIHL AS
battery.
► Recharge the STIHL AS battery with a
STIHL AL 1 charger.
■ Using the pruning shears, battery or charger
for purposes for which they were not designed

can cause material damage and serious or
fatal injuries.
► Use the pruning shears, battery and
charger as described in this User Manual.

Requirements for users
WARNING
■ Users without adequate training or instruction
cannot recognize or assess the risks involved
in using the pruning shears, battery and
charger. The user or other persons may sus‐
tain serious or fatal injuries.
► Read and understand the User Man‐
ual and keep it in a safe place for
reference.
► If the pruning shears, battery or charger are
passed on to another person: Always give
them the User Manual.
► Make sure that the user meets the following
conditions:
– The user is rested.
– The user must be in good physical con‐
dition and mental health to operate and
work with the pruning shears, battery
and charger. If the user is able to oper‐
ate the equipment but is physically,
hearing, visually or mentally impaired,
the user may only work with the equip‐
ment under the supervision of or after
receiving instruction from a responsible
person.
– The user is able to recognize and
assess the risks involved in using the
pruning shears, battery and charger.
– The user is an adult or is being trained
in an occupation under supervision
according to national regulations.
– The user has received instruction from a
STIHL authorized dealer or other expe‐
rienced user before working with the
pruning shears and using the charger
for the first time.
– The user is not under the influence of
alcohol, medication or drugs.
