On system configurations which feature a single-walled reactor vessel, the HBR 4 digital heating bath also serves as a
splinter guard The glass reactor vessel must always be fully immersed in the tempering unit. With this equipment con-
figuration you must ensure that any vapours released from the tempering bath are extracted.
Any reaction vapour released at the reactor cover must be extracted!
The stand system holds the drive unit complete with the reactor cover and the stirring instrument, the reac-
tor vessel and the safety disconnector.
An adjustment screw on the rear, right-hand side foot of the
stand can be used to level the stand and compensate for any
unevenness in the mounting surface.
Undo the lock nut. Turn the knurled screw clockwise to slight-
ly raise the foot of the appliance, turn it anticlockwise to lower
it. When the appliance is level, tighten the lock nut.
If you are working with the LR 2.1 single-walled reactor vessel
and the HBR 4 digital heating bath, you must remove the base-
plate including clamping bracket and one side support from
the stand.
Undo the top two M8 cheese-head screws using the DIN 911-
6 cranked wrench key provided. Remove the baseplate, undo
the bottom cheese-head screws and remove the side support.
The remaining side support is used to fit the safety disconnector. Place the plastic cover onto the aluminium profile.
ferred by a square shaft to the anchor stirrer. This is secured axially by means of a retaining ring.
To raise the whole assembly by hand, first undo the two knurled screws on the left and
right of the stand legs.
The pressure springs built into the telescopic stand mean that the whole reactor can be
easily raised and lowered.
Undo the knurled screw

coupling flange. The stirrer shaft features covered precision bearings and is sealed with
rotary shaft seals with PTFE sealing lips for vacuum operation.
Penetration of the stirrer shaft inevitably produces wear debris from the stirrer shaft
seal. In order to keep this debris away from the product, a protective ring has been fitted
to the stirrer shaft from below.
The anchor stirrer is also inserted into the stirrer shaft from below. The torque is trans-
The laboratory stirrer mount with integrated stirrer
shaft bearing is fitted to the stand adapter (connected
to the stand legs) with two tie rods. The ball-bearing,
vacuum-tight stirrer shaft is connected to the stirrer
