Chemical methods:
Germicidal solutions (formalin, phenol, alcohol etc.) are good general-purpose desinfectants. It is important that all
disinfectant residues are then removed with sterilized water.
Sterilization with moist heat:
This denotes the use of a steam jet pressurized to 2 bar at 120 °C.
Sterilization with hot air:
Hot-air sterilization is usually performed at 160 °C or 190 °C.
Laboratory reactor components may only be
sterilised using these methods.

Note:

Maintenance

The IKA ® laboratory reactor system requires little maintenance. The ball bearings are sealed and lubricated for life.
Refer to the operating instructions for individual components.
When ordering spare parts, please give the manufacturing number shown on the type olate, the machine type and
the name and item-no. of the spare part.
Before you send any equipment to us for repair, ensure that it has been cleaned of any toxic or corrosive substances.
Use only water with a detergent additive containing a surface active agent or, in cases of extreme contamination, iso-
propyl alcohol for cleaning parts not in contact with the medium.

The IKA ® Miniplant LR-2.ST laboratory reactor system can be fitted with a tool to mea-
sure the restoring torque. This can be used to measure rheological properties, flow and
deformation behaviour.
The LR-2.ST laboratory reactor can also be combined with the VM 600 basic IKA
module at a later stage. In this case, the device should be shipped back to IKA
assembly.
The module will be mounted between the laboratory stirrer drive and the stirrer shaft
bearing.

VM 600 basic
The VM 600 Basic Visco Module can only be used in vacuum processes and with
the LR 2000.10 anchor stirrer with a PTFE scraper in a very limited set of condi-
tions. This is because the friction losses are highly variable.
