Unpacking
The LR-2.ST laboratory reactor system is supplied as a fully functional unit in various configurations depending on customer
requirements. Accessories, such as ULTRA-TURRAX, temperature gauges and reactor vessels are supplied separately.
Please unpack the individual components and check for any damages. It is important that any damages which may have
arisen during transport are ascertained when unpacking. If applicable a fact report must be set immediately (post, rail or
forwarder).
System configurations
The basic IKA
®
Miniplant laboratory reactor comprises:
•
LR-2.ST stand system complete with reactor cover
•
EUROSTAR power control visc P7 drive unit (or EUROSTAR power control visc P4)
•
LR 2000.11 anchor stirrer with flow borings
•
LR-2.SP splinter guard
•
LR-2.SI safety disconnector
This system can be used with a variety of reactor vessels:
•
LR 2.1 single-walled reactor vessel
•
LR 2000.1 double-walled reactor vessel
•
LR 2000.2 double-walled reactor vessel with bottom discharge valve
All reactor vessels are made of borosilicate glass 3.3 and have a volume of 2000 ml. The nominal width is DN150. The
double-walled reactor vessels are all fitted with stainless steel quick-release connectors for thermostat hoses.
There are two tempering units for tempering the reactor vessels:
•
HBR 4 digital heating bath (for single-walled reactor vessels)
•
LT 6 control circulation thermostat (for double-walled reactor vessels)
Connect the thermostats and double-walled reactor vessels using two LT 5.20 hoses and LT 5.24 locking unions.
Another system configuratin for testing rheological material properties is the basic system plus

Note:
The VM 600 Basic Visco Module can only be used in vacuum processes and with the LR 2000.10
anchor stirrer with a PTFE scraper in a very limited set of conditions.
Other possible system components are listed in Accessories.
Setting up and operation
Follow the operating instructions given in this manual!
You should also refer to the operating instruction manual provided with the other items of equipment
delivered to you!
The reactor system must be operated under a closed fume hood or behind a protective screen!
The reactor must only be used with hte safety disconnector supplied. The safety disconnector ensu-
res that the system can be completely disconnectet from the mains power supply when required!
Always use the IKA
Only connect the laboratory stirrer and the disperser drive to the multi-socket. The multi-socket is
mounted on the back of the equipment and is connected to the safety disconnector.
Fit the safety disconnector and the splinter guard!
Secure the reactor vessel using the lock ring on the reactor cover.
Connect the power supply cables to the mains supply.
Switch on the safety disconnector by pressing the green button.
Start the laboratory stirrer.
The IKA
®
LR-2.SI has an EMERGENCY STOP button and also a safety disconnector which provides an alternative means
of shutting down the power supply circuit when the reactor cover is open. This protects you from rotating elements such
as anchor stirrers or dispersing elements.
The appliance will not restart automatically after a power failure.
You must switch the safety disconnector back on.
