TCD 2044
2.0 - INSTALLATION
2.1 - General Informations
The typical installation procedure is described herein.
Needless to say, it is not possible to describe a procedure applicable for all situations that may be encountered.
Adapt this procedure to satisfy your own personal requirements.
Identify the most appropriate position for the control seat on the basis of the following criteria:
• The control must be positioned so that it can easily be used and/or seen by the operator.
• Select a clean, smooth and flat area.
• The operator must be able to access the control from the back for installation and maintenance.
• There must be enough space behind the chosen position to house the rear of the control and the wiring.
• The rear part of the control must be protected from water and damp.
• Pay careful attention when drilling the panel or parts of the boat. This holes should not weaken or break/crack the
boat's structure.
The TCD control complies with EMC standards (electromagnetic compatibility). In any case correct installation is fundamen-
tal in order not to affect its performance or interfere with operation of instruments found near it.
For this reason the TCD control must be at least:
• 25 cm away from the compass.
• 50 cm away from any radio receivers.
• 1 m away from any radio transmitters (except for SSB).
• 2 m away from any SSB radio transmitters.
• 2 m away from the path of the radar beam.
2.2 - Control installation
After selecting the control position,
follow the steps given below:
1
•
- Place the drilling template on the surface
where the control will be installed and mark
the center of the two holes; to fix the self-
tapping screws, pre-drill the holes using a
2.5-mm Ø bit.
2
•
- Drill two holes for the rear of the control
with a 63-mm Ø hole saw.
3
•
- Cut along the perimeter indicated on the
drilling template.
• Remove the template and any burrs present in
the holes.
