7.3 Step-by-step commissioning
Procedure
1. Check the correct assignment of the control signals to the valve positions. See
valve documentation.
2. Switch on the pneumatic supply.
3. Check the pneumatic functionality using the manual override on the valve.
See valve documentation.
4. If necessary, perform troubleshooting. See g 13. Troubleshooting.
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until pneumatic functionality is confirmed.
6. Check that all connections and seals are tight.
7. Switch on the electrical supply.
8. Check LEDs for correct commissioning of the valve system. See documenta-
tion of the control.
ð Product is ready for operation.
8 Operation
The device is operated through the system. Observe the information in the sys-
tem documentation.
8.1 Notes on safety
Risk of burns due to hot surfaces
Operation of the product with insufficient supply pressure will cause the prod-
uct to heat up to more than 60 °C.
1. Do not touch the product during operation.
2. Allow the product to cool down before carrying out any work.
8.2 Basic requirements
General requirements
• Ensure sufficient air exchange if the product is exposed to the following condi-
tions:
– Permanent load of the solenoid coils
– Fully equipped
– Increased ambient temperature
• Never switch off, modify or bypass safety devices.
• Do not touch the product or any connected parts during operation.
In case of malfunctions during operation
• In case of a malfunction that presents an immediate danger for employees or
systems: Switch off product.
• Carry out analysis and troubleshooting of malfunctions. See
bleshooting.
9 Service
9.1 Inspection
9.1.1 General requirements
Use in normal ambient conditions
• Inspection interval: The product must be checked monthly for contamination
and damage.
Use in aggressive ambient conditions
Aggressive ambient conditions include, for example:
• Minimum or maximum permissible temperature. See
• Heavy accumulation of dirt
• Proximity to grease-dissolving liquids or vapors
Aggressive ambient conditions lead to further requirements for inspection:
• Adapt the inspection interval for seals to the ambient conditions.

Detailed inspection
• Identifications and warnings on the product: The system owner has to replace
labels or warnings that are difficult to read immediately.
• Check the compressed air connections.
• Check the lines.
• Check tubing.
• Check the seals.
• Check to make sure that all fittings are properly connected.
• Check all plug connectors are properly connected.
• Check the safety devices on the system.
• Check the product functions.
9.2 Cleaning
9.2.1 General requirements
Cleaning intervals
• The system owner specifies the cleaning intervals in line with the ambient
conditions at the operating site.
Aids
• Only clean the product with damp cloths.
• Only use water for cleaning and a mild detergent, if necessary.
NOTICE! Make sure that no water or water mist can enter the product via the
compressed air connections. Penetrating fluids destroy seals and cause dam-

9.2.2 Procedure
1. Close all openings with suitable safety devices so that no cleaning agent can
enter into the system.
2. Remove all dust deposits from the product and the adjacent system parts.
3. If necessary, remove other production-related deposits from the product and
the adjacent system parts.
9.3 Maintenance
Notes
• Observe the maintenance plan for the overall system: Further maintenance
tasks may result from the maintenance plan for the overall system and the
maintenance intervals specified therein.
• In aggressive ambient conditions, seals may have to be replaced.
• Replace defective modules.
9.4 After service
If no damage has been detected and the operator has not reported any malfunc-
tions, the product can be reconnected to the power supply and put back into op-
eration.
