Installation and Operating Instructions
Central ventilation units AIR1 XVP
• At an exhaust air temperature > 4°C, the heat exchanger frost protection is deactivated and the unit runs into normal
operation.
• If the preheater runs for more than 5 minutes at a power of 100 %, the ventilation unit goes into stand-by mode (out-
side dampers close) and an alarm message appears, which must be reset manually to restart the unit.
Ventilation unit without preheater and with afterheater:
An afterheater is available as an optional accessory. Electrical or hot water coils are available for each unit size. Furt-
hermore, the DX Change-Over coil can also be used as an afterheater coil in combination with an on-site heat pump/
refrigeration system.
In the default settings of the unit, the afterheater is deactivated. The activation/deactivation as well as the selection of
the heating coil by the user/installer is done during the commissioning of the HR unit (see chapter X).
The heat exchanger frost protection with an afterheater is always working in combination with a modulating bypass:
• Activation of heat exchanger frost protection when outside air temperature < -4°C and exhaust air temperature <
2°C.
• Modulating (opening/closing) of the unit bypass up to the maximum opening (not changeable). Parallel to this, there
is a continuous control of the afterheater up to an power output of 100%.
• In the case of hot water afterheater is used, the freezing of the water coil is also monitored by means of a temperature
sensor on the return water flow.
• At an exhaust air temperature > 4°C the heat exchanger frost protection is deactivated and the unit runs into normal
operation.
• If the maximum opening of the bypass and the maximum output of the afterheater are reached and there is still a risk
of freezing, the HR unit goes into stand-by mode (close external dampers) and an alarm message appears, which
must be reset manually in order to restart the unit.
Unit with preheater and with afterheater:
In this unit configuration, the heat exchanger frost protection initially starts with the afterheater in combination with the
modulating bypass (see configuration "unit without preheater and with afterheater").
If the heat exchanger frost protection of afterheater and bypass is not sufficient and there is still a risk of frost, then the
heat exchanger frost protection is additionally activated according to the previously described configuration "unit with
preheater and without afterheater".
The heat exchanger frost protection will be deactivated if an exhaust air temperature > 4°C is reached and the unit
runs into normal operation again.
If both frost protection configurations are insufficient to prevent icing of the heat exchanger, the HR unit goes into stand-
by mode (close external flaps) and an alarm message appears, which must be reset manually in order to restart the unit.
422 Warm water heating register frost protection
The optional warm water heating register has frost protection with the following functionality:
100 %
15
C
O
50 %
7
C
O
0 %
Activation of frost protection:
• Below +15 °C: The valve is opened by the frost protection sensor signal; the pump cycle is started.
• Below +7 °C: Ventilation is deactivated, the external dampers close and the valve is completely opened.
Deactivation of frost protection:
• Frost protection sensor temperature above +15 °C
423 Filter monitoring
The dynamic filter monitoring is used to check the filter condition. This highest possible filter pressure loss is calculated
in relation to the selected filter type and the operating point. If the filter pressure loss is greater than the permitted pres-
sure loss at this operating point, the filter alarm will be triggered.
