Manual PTB 24 ATEX 1001 X
5.4
Installation
The thermostat box is only designed for fixed
installation.
5.5
Installation of the temperature sensors
The temperature sensors must be installed in
such a way that their geometry, and therefore
their volume, is not altered in any way. No metal
tapes may be used for fastening, because they
could deform the sensor when tightened. For this
reason the use of fibre-glass self-sticking tapes
is recommended.
5.6
Protected laying of the capillary tube
Install the capillary tube to give it as much pro-
tection as possible, and be sure to observe the
minimum bending radius of 10 mm. Avoid bend -
ing the capillary tube repeatedly, because this
can cause hairline cracks.
5.6.1 Temperature differences
If the capillary tube is exposed to the same tem-
perature as the sensor, differences between the
desired and actual temperatures will result.
When the medium inside the capillary tube heats
up, it acts as an additional temperature sensor.
The error can be as much as 1.5 kelvin per
metre and 10 kelvin temperature difference.
For example: At a temperature difference of 100
kelvin in relation to the ambient temperature and
a capillary tube length of 1.0m, the error can
amount to 15 kelvin.
5.7
Readjustment
Depending on the particular configuration, either
reinstall the capillary tube.
The temperature controller or the saftey tem-
perature limiter may be readjusted and cali-
brated only by the manufacturer. Every re -
adjustment must be accompanied by a tem-
perature measurement and a functional test.
