6.4 Emergency operation
6.4.1 Manually operating the 185-1 change-over device with a
damaged servomotor
WARNING
Toxic material
Death or serious personal injury
Make sure that the shut-off valve close to the chlorine
inlets and the ball valve of the servomotor are not
closed simultaneously, because liquid chlorine can be
trapped in the lines between the valves. If the
temperature rises, chlorine gas could escape.
In this example, the servomotor (4) is damaged.
1. Unscrew the damaged servomotor (4) from the 185-1 change-
over device.
If the ball valve of the servomotor (4) is closed, open it by
turning the coupling in flow direction "open". Turn it by 90° using
pliers.
2. Set the operation mode switch at the control cabinet to "man".
3. Set the intact servomotor (5) to "open".
4. Change over between the container batteries by manually
opening and closing the ball valves of the servomotor.

6.2 Change-over device
6.4.2 Manually operating the 185-2 change-over device with a
damaged servomotor
WARNING
Toxic material
Death or serious personal injury
Make sure that the shut-off valve close to the chlorine
inlets, the ball valve of the servomotor and the manual
ball valves are not closed simultaneously, because
liquid chlorine can be trapped in the lines between the
valves. If the temperature rises, chlorine gas could
escape.
In this example, the servomotor (4) is damaged.
1. Check if the ball valve of the damaged servomotor (4) is open or
closed.
• If the ball valve of the damaged servomotor is closed, the
chlorine inlet valve, for example the optional shut-off valve at
the chlorine inlet, must be open.
• If the ball valve of the damaged servomotor is open, the
chlorine inlet valve, for example the optional shut-off valve at
the chlorine inlet, must be closed.
2. Set the servomotor (5) to the same position as the servomotor
(4).
a. Set the operation mode switch at the control cabinet to
"man".
b. Set the intact servomotor (5) to "closed" or "open".
c. Open or close the respective chlorine inlet valve, for
example, the optional shut-off valve at the chlorine inlet.
3. Change over between the container batteries by manually
opening and closing the ball valves of the servomotor.

6.2 Change-over device
7. Fault finding
7.1 Device does not change over
Cause
No control voltage is present, or
the connection to control
cabinet is interrupted.
The ball valves are closed.
The contact manometer is
defective.
Operation mode switch (S3) is
set to "man".
The servomotor is defective.
The valve is defective.
The valve packings are
tightened too much.
7.2 Lamp does not light up
Cause
The lamp is defective.
7.3 A fault is signalled at the potential-free output
Cause
Both container batteries are
empty.
The line coming from the spare
container battery is blocked.
The ball valves are closed.
7.4 Notes for other faults
If the servomotor of the valve to be closed blocks, the
failure output contact opens after 40 seconds due to low
pressure.
If the servomotor of the valve to be opened blocks and the
valve is still closed, the failure output contact opens after
40 seconds due to low pressure.
If the servomotor of the valve to be opened blocks when
halfway opened and gas pressure is already present, the
output contact of the respective valve remains opened.
Both signal lamps of the respective valve do not light up at
the control cabinet, because signal lamps only light up
when the end positions of the valves are reached.

Remedy
Establish power supply, check
the connection lines.
Open the ball valves, except
for the manual ball valves of
the bypass line.
Replace the contact
manometer.
Set operation mode switch
(S3) to "auto".
Replace the servomotor.
Replace the valve.
Loosen the packings slightly.
If the stuffing box is leaky,
send it to the manufacturer.
Remedy
Replace the lamp.
Remedy
Replace the empty containers
by full ones.
Clean the line.
Open the ball valves.
