Preparing the Slots
Before you can install the SunPCi card, you need to prepare the PCI slot(s) you will
use.
Note – If you plan to use the optional add-on backplate, you will need to use a pair
of adjacent slots.
Use your Phillips screwdriver to remove the filler panels from two adjacent empty
slots, or remove the installed card(s).
The filler panel is the removable metal strip that is installed inside your system
enclosure at the back panel, next to the PCI slots. From the back of the workstation,
you can see that they are marked PCI1 through PCI4.
a. If you are installing the card in a pair of empty slots, remove the filler panels
for the slots from the system.
b. If you are installing the card in an occupied slot, remove the current card. Put
your index fingers or thumbs under the corners of the card. Remove the card
from the system.
