21 Winter Operation
21.1
Pre-heat carburetor
► Remove the shroud – see "Shroud"

driver, pry the shutter out of the s (summer
operation) position

► Place the shutter with the opening in the direc‐
tion of the chain saw (winter operation) –
arrow points toward symbol r – shutter must
audibly snap into place
In the winter operation position, the tip of the
arrow (1) is visible.
► Fit the shroud – see "Shroud"
Heated air is now drawn in from around the cylin‐
der and circulates around the carburetor – this
helps prevent carburetor icing.
21.1.2
At temperatures above +20 °C
► Ensure that the shutter is set back to position
s (summer operation) without fail, otherwise
the engine may malfunction due to overheat‐
ing
21.2
At temperatures below -10 °C
In case of erratic idling behavior or poor acceler‐
ation
► Turn the low speed screw (L) 1/4 turn counter‐
clockwise
Whenever the low speed screw (L) has been
adjusted, it is usually also necessary to adjust
the idle speed screw (LA), see "Setting the car‐
buretor".
► if the chain saw is extremely cold (frost forma‐
tion) – after starting, bring the engine up to
operating temperature at increased idle speed
(disengage chain brake!)
21.3
Air filter system
► Retrofit new air filter if necessary – see "Air fil‐
ter system"
22 Operating Instructions
22.1
During the break-in period
A factory new machine should not be run at high
revs (full throttle off load) for the first three tank
fillings. This avoids unnecessarily high loads dur‐
ing the break-in period. As all moving parts have
to bed in during the break-in period, the frictional
