INSTRUCTIONS FOR DETERMINING THE CAUSE LEADING TO IRREGULARITIES IN THE
E
OPERATION OF LIGHT OIL BURNERS, AND THEIR ELIMINATION
N
G
TYPE OF IRREGULARITY
L
The burner goes to shut down with flame
presence (red light on)
I
S
H
The burner goes to shut down spraying
fuel but without flame appearance
(red light on).
The trouble is limited to the ignition devi-
ce, providing the fuel is in good condition
(not polluted with water or anything else)
and sufficiently atomized.

POSSIBLE CAUSE
1) Photoresistant cell interrupted or fouled
by smoke.
2) Insufficient draught
3) Photoresistant cell circuit interrupted
4) Disk or head fouled up
1) Ignition circuit interrupted
2) The ignition transformer leads have dried
up with time
3) The ignition transformer leads are not pro-
perly connected
4) Ignition transformer interrupted
5) The electrode tips are not at the correct
distance
6) Electrodes discharge to earth because
they are dirty or their insulation is cracked;
check also under the insulator clamping
terminals
1) Pump pressure is not normal
2) Water in the fuel
3) Too much combustion air
4) Air passage between disk and head clo-
sed too much
5) Nozzle worn out or faded
1) One phase missing
2) Electric motor inefficient
3) Light oil not reaching the pump
4) No light oil in the cistern
5) Gate valve on the suction pipe is closed
6) Nozzle clogged
7) Motor (three-phase) rotates in opposite
direction to that indicated by the arrow
8) Foot valve leaks or is jammed
9) Defective pump
10) Inefficient electrovalve
11) The valve of the atomizing unit does not
open
1) Pipe diameter too small
2) Air infiltration in the pipes
3) Dirty rough filter
4) Excessive distance between the cistern
and the burner or a lot of accidental eaka-
ge's (curves, elbows, choking, etc.)
5) Deteriorated flexible pipes
1) Thermostats (boiler or room), or pressure
switches are open
2) Photoresistant cell in short circuit
3) Lack of voltage with the main switch open,
tripped maximum meter switch or line vol-
tage failure
4) The thermostat line has not been wired
according to the diagram or a thermostat
has remained open
5) A breakdown in the control box

REMEDY
1) Clean or replace it
2) Check all the smoke ducts in the boiler
and in the chimney
3) Replace the control box
4) Clean
1) Check the entire circuit
2) Replace them
3) Tighten them
4) Replace it
5) Re-set them in the required position
6) Clean them or, if necessary, replace them
1) Re-set it
2) Drain it from the cistern using a proper
pump. (Never use the burner pump for this
job).
3) Reduce the amount of combustion air
4) Correct the position of the combustion
head regulating device
5) Clean it or replace it
1) Check the supply line
2) Repair it or replace it
3) Check the suction pipe
4) Fill it up
5) Open it
6) Remove it and clean it thoroughly
7) Invert a phase in the supply switch
8) Remove it and clean it
9) Replace it
10) Check it and, if necessary, replace it
11) After having checked if the combustion
pressure is correct, replace the atomizing
unit
1) Replace according to relative instructions
2) Check and eliminate such infiltration's
3) Remove and wash it
4) Rectify the entire length of the suction pipe
and shorten the distance
5) Replace them
1) Raise the setting and wait until they close
due to a natural decrease in the tempera-
ture or pressure
2) Replace it
3) Close the switches and wait for voltage to
return
4) Check connections and thermostats
5) Replace it
