Extrusion
• Set up the unit as instructed in section 5.1.
• Press and hold down the advance key (2) or (3) (depending on the
desired speed or function):
- Impression tray (2), fast extrusion speed
or
- Dispenser (3), slow extrusion speed
○ The mixing hexagon (13, Fig. 1) starts to turn and threads its way auto-
matically into the mixing nozzle (21, Fig. 1) and then stops again.
○ The pressure discs advance at high speed until they reach the impres-
sion material.
○ Once it comes into contact with the impression material the device will automatically change to the
selected pressing speed and the mixing shaft begins to turn.
• Fill the impression tray or dispenser.
• Release the advance key as soon as the desired amount of material has been extruded.
○ The pressure discs retract with a short relief stroke to prevent any additional impression material
from being extruded.
The pressure discs will only move if the unit cover is closed.
The threading of the mixer shaft into the mixing nozzle produces an audible noise. This is per-
fectly normal.
The first 5 cm of material from a newly installed cartridge or from an again inserted used car-
tridge should be discarded.
Please note the material manufacturer's recommendations!
If the cartridge is emptied during an extrusion, the pressure discs automatically return to their
home position so that a new cartridge can be quickly installed to start an new the extrusion
process.

Fill Level Indicator and Remaining Amount
5.3.1 Fill Level Indicator
The fill level indicator (1) helps you to estimate the amount of impression
material remaining in the cartridge.
However, after installing a new cartridge or if the cartridge is very full, the
red indicator will at first not be visible.
The indicator will only become visible once the pressure discs have ad-
vanced approx. 25 mm into the cartridge.
5.3.2 Remaining Amount Detection
The SYMPRESS II is equipped with an electronic fill level detection. Once
there is only sufficient material remaining in a cartridge to fill approx. one
casting spoon, the yellow "Residual level" LED (5) goes on.
The indicator passes a residual level marking.
