9. Apply UHU-por to the wing panels and the wing reinforcements (14), and allow the glue
to air-dry. Take care to apply the UHU-por only to the non-sanded parts and the
Depron® components, as the sanded parts will be glued using high-viscosity
cyano-acrylate ("thick cyano"). This applies to all stages which are similar to this
procedure.
10. Apply thick cyano to the sanded area of the wing trailing edge reinforcement, and glue
the reinforcement to the trailing edge of the wing. Note that the top wing is longer
than the bottom wing, and so the reinforcements are shorter. Glue the
reinforcements to the joiner tubes first, as shown in the pictures. Allow the glue to
set hard, then sand back the joiner tubes and the carbon reinforcements flush with the
wing.
11. Chamfer the leading edge of the ailerons (26, 27) at 45° , and attach them to the wings
using the glass fibre adhesive tape (28). Take care to produce a handed pair of
ailerons: they are different left and right. Apply short pieces of tape to the underside
of the hinge line to secure the inboard and outboard hinges.
12. Screw the ball-end bolts (30) into the aileron horns (29), and glue the horns in the slots in
the bottom ailerons. Note that the linkage balls must face outward.
13. Attach the front strut supports (31) and the rear strut supports (32) to the wing centre
section supports (33) using thick cyano. Take care to produce a handed pair (one left
and one right component).
14. Lightly sand the right and left ends of one face of the wing centre section reinforcements
(16), and glue these to the top and bottom wing centre sections (24, 25) as described in
Stages 9 + 10.
15. Insert the aluminium threaded sleeves (34) in the centre section supports (33) and glue
the supports to the top wing centre section (24). The threaded sleeves are only
required at this moment for aligning the supports; they are glued in place at a
later stage.
16. Glue the rigging supports (35) in place using the same method, then sand back the joiner
tubes etc. flush with the wing centre sections.
17. To avoid errors when assembling the right and left wing struts, we suggest that you lay
out all the parts for the strut assemblies as shown in the picture:
Carbon strut reinforcements (15), top strut end supports (36), bottom strut end supports
(37), strut guides (38) and struts (39).
18. Insert the threaded sleeves (34) in the strut end supports (36, 37), and glue the strut
guides (38) to the strut end supports (36, 37) using thick cyano, aligning the parts with
the threaded sleeves (34). Ensure that no glue gets onto the threaded sleeves, as
these parts are only used for alignment; it should be possible to remove them
once the glue has hardened. Now glue the complete strut support assemblies in the
ends of the wing struts (39) using UHU-por, flush with the top or bottom edge of the
Depron parts.
19. Glue the strut reinforcements (15) to the wing struts (39) using UHU-por; glue them to the
hardwood supports using cyano.
