The values highlighted in grey a re the manufacturer's default settings at the time of drawing up these op-
erating instructions. The speed controller of your vehicle may have a different default setting; in this case,
note the number of flashing signals of the red LED.
Overview of functions:
• Function #1, green LED flashes once: Drive function
The speed controller can be switched between the two drive modes ("forwards/brake" and "forwards/brake/re-
verse"). In "forwards/brake" mode, the reverse function can be disabled. This is often required in racing competi-
tions.
• Function #2, green LED flashes twice: Brake
If you release the throttle on the transmitter or move the throttle/brake lever on the transmitter back to the neutral
position, the vehicle will slow down by itself. The effect is just like the engine braking function on a "real" car when
you release the accelerator pedal without pressing the brake pedal.
The brake functions like a brake on a standard electric engine (a brushless electric engine does not have strong
magnets that slow down the rotor).
• Function #3, green LED flashes three times: Low voltage protection
If a LiPo drive battery is used, make sure that the undervoltage protection is enabled (we recommend at least 3.0 V
per cell). If you use a LiPo rechargeable battery without undervoltage protection, it will be permanently damaged
by deep discharge!
If the speed controller with a 2-cell LiPo rechargeable battery (fully charged approx. 8.4 V) and a cut-off voltage
of 3.0 V per cell measures a battery voltage of 6.0 V, the engine output power will be initially reduced. The speed
controller then shuts off the engine to prevent deep discharge of the LiPo rechargeable battery.
When using a NiMH drive battery, you should disable the undervoltage protection. Alternatively, set the undervolt-
age protection to 2.6 V per cell.
If the voltage of a NiMH drive battery is below 9 V after the speed controller is turned on, the speed controller will
interpret this as a 2-cell LiPo rechargeable battery. Shutdown would then occur at 5.2 V (2 x 2.6 V). If the voltage of
a NiMH drive battery exceeds 9 V (for example, with a fully charged 7-cell NiMH drive battery), the speed controller
will interpret this as a 3-cell LiPo rechargeable battery. Shutdown would then occur at 7.8 V (3 x 2.6 V).
