9. Connection and Installation of the Receiver
a) Connection
• Ensure proper connection of the steering servo and throttle/brake servo (or speed controller). If the plugs are swapped
for connection, the receiver and servos or speed controller will not work.
• Depending on the model for which you use the remote control system, the connection as well as the power supply of
the receiver and the servos can be carried out in different ways:
Connecting the receiver
ST
TH
AUX (*)
BATT
Note (*): In other transmitters, the "AUX"-connection is used as channel 3. However, this function is not available for
this version of the transmitter (2 channels). Therefore, do not connect servos or speed controller to it.
The connection can, however, be used for LED vehicle lighting or for similar purposes suitable for connection to the
receiver.
Note (**): For electric models with mechanical speed controller units, a battery box or a separate rechargeable
receiver battery is always required for the power supply to the receiver.
The power supply connection mounted to the mechanical speed controller must not be used because the voltage of
7.2 V applied at the connection (in a 6-cell rechargeable drive battery) is too high for the receiver and the connected
servos. The receiver or the servos will be destroyed and the warranty/guarantee is void!
For electric models with an electronic speed controller, a separate rechargeable receiver battery is only required on
the "BATT" connection if the engine control used does not have a BEC switch. Drive control units with a BEC must
not have anything connected to „BATT". For further information, refer to the technical documents of the speed
controller unit.
If a separate receiver battery is used, we recommend the use of a 5-cell rechargeable battery pack or a so-
called „Hump" rechargeable battery pack.
This avoids possible technical malfunction as a result of low output voltage from rechargeable batteries
(cell voltage for rechargeable batteries = 1.2V, disposable batteries = 1.5V).
If the receiver is operated through batteries, only 4 cells á 1.5V must be used (e.g. battery box for 4x
mignon/AA cells).
