8. Preparations for operation, startup
Please note:
First startup all available outdoor sensors (insert batteries), then the
base station.
If you proceed in a different sequence it may happen that the base station
does not recognize the existing outdoor sensors!
As a general rule it is recommended that you try the base station with all outdoor sensors in
a room first before installing the outdoor sensors outdoors. The distance between base station
and outdoor sensors must be 2 m minimum in order to prevent interferences.
If after the installation of the outdoor sensors you determine that e.g. one of them cannot be
received, you can assume with certainty that the radio reception is not sufficient (and not that
the outdoor sensor is defective).
With this first function test you save later inconvenient and time consuming trouble shooting.
Proceed as follows:
• Open the battery compartment on the back of the base station.
• Insert three batteries type mignon/AA batteries observing correct polarity into the battery
compartment. Use preferably alkaline batteries.
Using rechargeable batteries is possible; however the lower voltage/capacity
of the latter reduces the operating time, see chapter 7.
• Close the battery compartment.
• After inserting the batteries all the segments of the LC display are displayed followed by a
version number.
• Afterwards, the base station activates the synchronization mode for 10 minutes. "SY" is
displayed and underneath is a counter that counts the 10 minutes down.
• After the synchronization the following data are displayed:
Upper line ("display field A", see next page):
If no sensor is received: temperature of the indoor sensor
If only one sensor is received: temperature of this sensor
If several sensors are received: temperature of the sensor with the address 8; this is the
pool sensor "PS55" in factory setting
