7.4.1 Coupling / motor adapter / motor

A motor with or without a drive can be connected to the coupling housing. Correct configuration
of the drive will prevent dangers arising from this electric cylinder. You can adapt the motor using
a motor adapter which consists of a motor plate (or plates) and a coupling. This matched combi-
nation ensures that the components are aligned axially.
The combination of the motor and electric cylinder determines the type of motor adapter that
you require. The individual components are fitted as shown in figure 2. The clamping ring hub is
mounted on the spindle pin. The separation distance from the outside is 20 mm (see figure 1).
The six M4 bolts are tightened to 3 Nm in a criss-cross fashion.
The second coupling lug is fitted to the motor pin using a feather key and fastened with the clam-
ping screw. The clamping area of the coupling lug is fully assembled onto the drive shaft pin. The
bevel of the motor pin is completely visible, the shaft pin protrudes at least 1.5 - 2 mm from the
coupling lug. Different motor plates and/or centring rings are used depending on the variant.
Notice: for SEW motors, the clamping ring hub is fitted to the shaft pin in individual parts.
The second coupling lug is fitted to the motor pin as described above.
Checks: the clamping area of the coupling lug is fitted fully flush to the shaft pin, the bevels of
the shaft pin are completely visible, the shaft pin protrudes about 1.5 - 2 mm from the coupling
lug. Different motor plates are used depending on the variant of the motor.
