THE „DIRT VALVE SYSTEM" (DVS)
Our new DVS is incorporated into a serial glider for the first time with the BLUE. The function is
very simple and effective.
In flight dirt such as grass, leaves, insects, stones, etc. are blown through into the stabilo-area by
the air flow through the canopy. When it has accumulated in that area, instead of having to shake
it out through the vents by hand, the DVS takes over. At the BLUE's wing tips, near the attach-
ment for the stabilo-line, are vents that are kept closed by the line drag during normal flight. If
the line-drag is decreased – e.g. by introducing "big ears" - the vents open and dirt is blown out
by the air flow.
Of course you can still remove dirt manually if you wish, but using the DVS is easier.
