THE BLUE IN DETAIL

THE CANOPY

The canopy of the BLUE is made of extremely strong, specially coated Porcher Marine fabric. When
treated properly (see chapter Care and maintenance) this material has proved to be extraordinarily
resilient and airtight, ensuring your safety, and an excellent resale value for your BLUE for a long
time. The top surface is produced with our new Hybrid technique, with the forward third construct-
ed using 9092 E85A 44g material, while the rearmost two thirds are made up with 9017 E77A 40g
material. This thoroughly tested combination of materials guarantees a high quality, longer life and
greatly increased safety due to the overall lightness of the canopy. Both materials are impregnated
with a water repellent coating which helps maintain the porosity for a longer period.
The bottom surface uses the 9017 E38A 40g material which again optimises the overall weight
of the glider.
Diagonally stiffened Porcher Marine fabric 9017 E29A (Hard finish) was our choice for the profile
and ribs, guaranteeing maximum profile accuracy under flight loads and forces.
The profile of the BLUE was created by the aerodynamics specialist Dani Loritz specifically to ac-
commodate the demands of a modern paraglider, efficient over an unusually wide range of angles
of attack.
Leading and trailing edges are reinforced with a polyester band. Air intakes and partially closed
cells are stiffened to ensure ideal characteristics for launch and high speeds.
The rounded shape of the cell openings and the partially closed cells were designed to provide a
balance between upper and lower surface tensions. They also keep the leading edge openings as
small as possible, bringing performance advantages.
The BLUE is not equipped with a traditional stabilizer, the stabilo having been reduced to a winglet
of the smallest possible dimensions so as to reduce induced drag.
The BLUE has been provided with high directional and canopy stability without producing unneces-
sary parasitic drag.
