power supply
If the amplifier is to keep on operating in case of
power failure, connect a 24 V emergency power
supply unit (e. g. PA-24ESP from MONACOR) to
the terminals 24 V (18).
Finally, connect the mains jack (14) to a
mains socket (230 V~ / 50 Hz) using the mains
cable supplied.

8 Operation

To prevent volumes that are too high, set the
control MASTER (6) to "0" prior to switching on
the amplifier for the first time.

8.1 Switching on / off

The amplifier will be in standby mode once it is
connected to the mains or to the emergency
power supply unit. The LED STAND-BY (8) will
light up.
To switch on the amplifier, press the button
POWER (9). The LED ON will light up (instead of
the LED STAND-BY); additionally, the LED
PROT (7) will briefly light up. Via a switching
contact at the terminals POWER REMOTE (20),
the unit can also be switched on and off by
remote control.
The LED ON will start flashing when the
amplifier is remote-controlled via the zone pag-
ing microphone PA-2500RC or when a switching
contact is closed at the terminals E/M MES-
SAGE CTRL for an emergency announcement.
To switch off the amplifier, keep the button
POWER pressed until the LED ON extinguishes
and the LED STAND-BY lights up again.
Notes:
When the contact POWER REMOTE is closed, it will
not be possible to switch off the amplifier with the but-
ton POWER.
If the power supply is interrupted during operation, the
amplifier will automatically be switched on once power
supply is available again.

8.2 Selecting the outputs

All zone outputs can separately be switched on
and off. It is also possible to conveniently select
all zones at the same time (e. g. for important
announcements). At the PA-2510D, the zone
volume can be individually adjusted.
1) To activate an output, press the appropriate
button
SPEAKER
Z 1 – Z 10/ 20 (11). When an output is acti-
vated, the LED above the corresponding but-
ton will light up.
2) To switch off an output, keep the appropriate
button pressed until the LED above the but-
ton extinguishes.
3) To switch on all inputs on the PA-2510D,
press the button ALL (on the right). On the
PA-2520D, press the button ALL in the lower
row to switch on the zones Z 1 – Z 10 or the
button ALL in the upper row to switch on the
zones Z 11 – Z 20.
4) To reset a row to its previous zone selection,
keep the button ALL in the appropriate row
pressed for approx. 2 seconds.
8.2.1 Adjusting the zone volume
(PA-2510D only)
After an output has been switched on or the but-
ton of a switched-on output has been briefly
pressed, the volume of the corresponding zone
may be adjusted. The output level can be atten-
uated by 3, 6 or 12 dB.
Press the button VOL
increase or reduce the volume.
14
When all zone outputs are selected with the but-
ton ALL, the level of all outputs will be set to
-3 dB. The level can then be changed for all
zones at the same time.
has been made, the volume of the individual
zones will apply.

8.3 Setting the input channels

1) To make the following settings, first switch on
at least one zone output and set the control
MASTER (6) for the total volume approx. to
mid-position.
2) Use the appropriate control (2) to adjust the
volume of the input channels CH 1 to CH 6.
Set the control to "0" for the inputs that are not
used.
for additional level adjustment: Using a small
screwdriver, turn the controls GAIN (27)
located on the rear side of the amplifier.
for optimal sound adjustment.
3) Turn the control PAGING (21) with a small
screwdriver to adjust the volume of a signal
source connected to the terminals PAGING
IN (19). If no signal source is connected, turn
the control to the left stop.
4) Use the control MASTER (6) to adjust the
total volume as desired.
The LED SIGNAL (7) will indicate the mixed
signal that has been adjusted with the control
MASTER. If the LED CLIP (7) lights up, the
amplifier is overloaded. In this case, turn
back the control MASTER or the volume con-
trol of the appropriate input accordingly.
CAUTION
will get accustomed to high volumes which
do not seem to be that high after some time.
Therefore, do not further increase a high
volume after getting used to it.

8.4 Triggering the chime

If a chime shall sound, e. g. to precede an
announcement to be made via one of the chan-
nels CH 1 – CH 6, briefly press the button CHIME
(5) or a pushbutton connected to the terminals
ZONES
SELECTOR
CHIME CTRL (20). The volume of the chime can
be adjusted together with the volume of the
sirens: Turn the control CHIME / SIREN (22)
using a small screwdriver (Selecting the Chime
Melody
(with the exception of the signal from channel
CH 1) will be muted.

8.5 Siren

To switch on a siren sound, press one of the two
siren buttons (4):
⁓ repeated wailing (tone rising and falling)
— rising tone followed by continuous tone
The LED above the button will light up when the
siren is switched on. To switch off the siren,
press the appropriate button again. Only one
siren can sound at a time. The volume of the
siren can be adjusted together with the volume
of the chime: Turn the control CHIME / SIREN

8.6 Desk microphone PA-4300PTT

To make announcements via a PA-4300PTT:
1) Use the buttons SPEAKER ZONE SELEC-
TOR (11) at the amplifier to select the PA
zones where the announcements shall be
audible (
chapter 8.2).
2) Prior to the first announcement, turn the vol-
ume control CH 1/ PTT (2) at the amplifier
approx. to mid-position.
3) On the microphone, keep the button TALK
(37) pressed, wait for the chime to sound (if
applicable) and then speak into the micro-
phone cartridge (36). The LED TALK above
the button will light up. If a specific speech
volume is exceeded, the other input signals
at the amplifier will automatically be muted.
4) If required, adjust the volume of the an-
nouncement by means of the control CH 1/
PTT (2) and then use the controls BASS and
TREBLE (3) for optimal sound adjustment.
The LED BUSY above the button will indicate
any announcements that are being made via a
different desk microphone.

8.6.1 Settings at the PA-4300PTT

Use the switches on the rear side of the desk
microphone to make the following adjustments:
CHIME (31) – in the position ON, a chime will
sound first when the button TALK (37) is
pressed. The melody of the chime is identical
to that of the chime triggered at the amplifier
and can be selected (
chapter 4).
PRIORITY (32) – in the position ON, all zone
outputs will be switched on when the button
TALK is pressed. In the upper position, how-
ever, the announcement will only be audible
in the zones that are currently switched on at
the amplifier.
MASTER / SLAVE (33) – If multiple desk micro-
phones PA-4300PTT connected to the ampli-
fier are being used, the microphones with the
setting MASTER will take priority over the
microphones that have been switched to
SLAVE.

8.7 Zone paging microphone PA-2500RC

To make announcements via a PA-2500RC:
1) Prior to the first announcement, use a small
screwdriver to turn the volume control MIC
(44) located on the rear side of the zone pag-
ing microphone to mid-position.
2) Use the buttons SPEAKER ZONE SELEC-
TOR 1 – 10/ 20 (48) to preselect the PA zones
where the announcement shall be audible.
When a zone is selected, the LED above the
corresponding button will light up.
To deselect a zone, press the appropriate
button again; the corresponding LED will
extinguish. To select or deselect all zones of
a row, press the button ALL in the respective
row. To reset a row to its previous zone selec-
tion, press the button ALL again.
When the LED BUSY-LED (49) flashes, an
announcement is being made via a different
zone paging microphone or via a desk micro-
phone PA-4300PTT. It is not possible to
make announcements via multiple zone pag-
ing microphones at the same time. However,
a zone paging microphone of higher priority
will be able to interrupt an announcement (for
setting priorities
chapter 8.7.2, "PRIOR-
ITY").
3) Keep the button TALK (46) pressed, wait for
the chime to sound (if applicable) and then
speak into the microphone cartridge (45).
