Washing
Preparation
Check that:
u the wall switch is turned on.
u all water taps are turned on.
The appliance is ready for use when all pilot lamps are
flashing or are switched off in standby mode. If one pilot
lamp remains on, proceed as follows:
Use the Quick Wash button to go to the Programme
End position, until the pilot lamp illuminates.
Wait until the pilot lamp flashes and operate the «Door»
button (remove laundry if necessary).
Opening the loading door
u Press the «Door» button.
The loading door springs open.
u Note: The loading door only springs open if the main
power supply is switched od.
Loading the laundry
Before loading the washing, check that there are no for-
eign bodies or trapped animals in the drum.
Allow items of laundry that have been treated with sol-
vent-based cleaners such as spot-removers or cleaners
solvent to dry in the open before washing. Danger of
explosion!
Take care to prevent foreign bodies such as nails, coins
or paper clips from being washed with the laundry. For-
eign bodies or textiles with metal reinforcements may
damage the appliance components (e.g. drum, deter-
gent container). Damaged appliance parts may in turn
cause damage to the laundry.
u Place the laundry loosely in the drum, small and
large pieces mixed together.
Adding the detergent
See page 52.
Check that there are no foreign bodies in the detergent
being added.
Closing the loading door
u Close the loading door by pressing it until the lock
audibly engages.
u Check that no laundry is trapped between the loading
door and the rubber seal.
A safety switch prevents the appliance from being star-
ted if the door is not closed properly.

Selecting the wash programme
u Lightly press the programme button. (Hand wash pro-
gramme: press button twice)
The pilot lamp for the selected programme illumina-
tes.
The washing temperature is displayed first, followed
by the washing time. In the case of the hand wash pro-
gramme,
wed by the washing time.
Selecting additional functions
Once the programme has been selected, the pilot lamps
for the available additional funtions flash.
u Lightly press desired function button(s) (See Additio-
nal Functions, pages 57 and 58).
The pilot lamp(s) for the additional functions(s) illumi-
nate(s).
The amended programme values such as time, spin
speed, temperature etc. are displayed.
Starting the programme
u Lightly press the Start button.
The pilot lamp illuminates and the programme runs
through automatically.
With child safety guard activated:
u Hold down the Quick Wash button and actuate the
Start button.
