5.4 Accessories

Accessories must be ordered separately if needed.
The accessories included in the Salmson range
include the following:
• Open break tank (example Fig. 13a),
• 8l diaphragm pressure vessel retrofit kit (example
Fig.b5)
• Larger diaphragm pressure vessel (on the suction
side or discharge side)
• Safety valve
• Dry-running protection:
• Protection against low water level (WMS) (Fig.
6a and 6b) in inlet mode (at least 1.0 bar) (sup-
plied fitted to the pressure boosting system if
part of the order)
• Float switch
• Low-water warning electrodes with level relay
• Electrodes for tank operation (special accesso-
ries on request)
• Flexible connection lines (Fig.b10b-bB),
• Expansion joints (Fig.b9b-bB),
• Threaded flanges and caps (Fig.b9 and 10b–bD),

6 Description of the product and accessories

6.1 General description

The Salmson -pressure boosting system type Alti-
Nexis is supplied ready for connection as a com-
pact unit with built-in controls. It consists of 2 to
4 non-self-priming multistage vertical high-pres-
sure centrifugal pumps which are supplied com-
pletely piped to each other and mounted on a
common base frame. The only connections that
have to be made are for the inlet and pressure
pipes and the electrical mains supply. It may also
be necessary to install accessories ordered and
supplied separately.
The pressure boosting system with non-self-
priming pumps can be connected both indirectly
(Fig.b8b-bsystem separated by a non-pressurised
water break tank) and directly (Fig. 7b-bconnection
without separation of the system) to the water
supply mains. Detailed instructions for the pump
type used can be found in the attached installa-
tion and operating instructions for the pump.
Observe the relevant, applicable regulations and
standards for using the potable water supply and/
or fire extinguishing supply. The system must be
operated and maintained in accordance with the
relevant instructions so that the security of the
water supply is permanently guaranteed and
neither the public water supply nor other con-
sumption installations are detrimentally
affected. The relevant instructions or standards
(see sectionb1.1) on connection and the type of
connection to the public water mains must be
observed; and supplemented by regulations of
water companies or the responsible fire protec-
tion authorities, as required. In addition, local
conditions (e.g. a supply pressure that is too high
or fluctuates sharply and which might require the
installation of a pressure relief valve) must also be
observed.
