• Product cleanliness
• There are no cuts, holes, lacerations or abrasions on the entire structure of the device and its parts, including detachable parts.
• Correct fixing and holding of straps
• Check that the grommets for anchoring the handles, where provided, are intact and correctly attached to the device.
• Conditions of wear of the device and its standard parts.
See paragraph 11 for how to carry out the above-mentioned checks.
Do not modify the device or its parts for any reason as this could cause damage to the patient and/or rescuers.
Failure to take the above measures will preclude safe use of the device, resulting in risk of damage to the patient, operators and the device itself.
For subsequent use, perform the operations specified in paragraph 12.
If the above conditions are met, the device may be considered ready for use; otherwise, you must immediately remove the device from service and contact the Manufacturer.
Do not alter or modify the device arbitrarily, as doing so could result in unpredictable operation and damage to the patient or rescuers and will void the warranty and
release the Manufacturer from all liability.
10. OPERATING CHARACTERISTICS
See paragraph 11 - Proper use for operating characteristics.
11. PROPER USE
Primary medical evaluations must be carried out before intervening on the patient.
11.1 LOADING THE PATIENT ONTO THE TOTAL STRETCHER
Before moving the patient, a medical evaluation of the patient's condition must be performed to stabilize the patient's clinical condition, verify possible surrounding hazardous
situations, assess how to move the patient and whether it may be necessary to use alternative devices.
Once these priorities have been met, you may proceed to the next steps in using the device.
Unrolling and stretching out (Total and Total Kon)
• Remove the device from the case.
IT
• Unlock all the straps and unroll the stretcher completely, while holding one end of the support bed (Fig. A - Appendix) firmly on the ground with one foot.
• Then roll up the upper half of the stretcher in the opposite direction to that in which it was taken out of the bag in order to eliminate the "memory" effect of the material.
Carry out the same operation on the opposite side in order to make the stretcher perfectly flat. (Fig. B - Appendix)
• Place the stretcher on the ground according to the indications on the "HEAD SIDE" and "EXTERNAL SIDE" stickers.
Patient positioning - LOG ROLL method
EN
• Place the device next to the patient. Make sure that the side of the device on which the patient's head is to be placed is adjacent to the head itself. Position the transverse
straps under the stretcher.
• Roll the patient to one side and slide the device as far as possible under the patient. Gently lay the patient on the device (Fig.C - Appendix).
Patient positioning – PULL method (head)
DE
• Fold the foot end of the stretcher to form a kind of ramp and place the belts under or to the side of the stretcher.
• Using forearms to stabilise the head, grasp the patient in the underarm area and then pull the patient onto the stretcher until the stretcher is in the proper position for
anchoring (Fig.D - Appendix).
Patient positioning – PULL method (feet)
• Fold the head end of the stretcher to form a kind of ramp and place the belts under or to the side of the stretcher.
FR
• Grasp the patient's legs and pull him or her onto the stretcher until he or she is in the proper position for anchoring.
Patient anchorage
• Make sure that you have correctly centred the patient in relation to the stretcher.
• Raise the sides of the stretcher and fasten the straps, wrapping the stretcher around the patient. Do not cross the straps.
ES
• Grasp the belts on the foot end, pass them through the last grommet in the straight portion of the stretcher and fasten them with the buckle (Fig. E - Appendix). Adjust so
that it is tensioned enough to ensure the patient's stability.
• Slightly roll up the head end of the stretcher to prevent the patient from sliding and adjust the belts so that this position is maintained.
Total Kon patient anchorage
• With Total Kon, the upper strap must be passed below the patient's armpits.
PT
• To attach Total Kon to the patient, the groin belts must also be carefully positioned and anchored (Fig. F - Appendix).
• These are located at the bottom of the device. After passing the belts through the patient's groin, close the quick release buckles, making sure that the belts are securely
fastened and able to support the patient's weight.
Rope positioning (for vertical lifting)
EL
• Insert each end of the white rope into the grommets at the head end of the stretcher.
• Then pass it through the free grommets to the foot end, alternately inside and outside the stretcher. Adjust the length of the rope so that the two ends protruding from the
stretcher are the same length (Fig. G - Appendix).
• Knot the ends of the rope so that it properly tightens the device, then pass the portions of rope that are still free through the last pair of foot handles and tie an additional
knot (Fig. H - Appendix).
DA
Extra handles
• The device is supplied with 4 additional handles whose use is recommended for horizontal lifting in especially heavy load conditions where more operators than those
normally used are foreseen.
• To install these handles, align and join their edges, pass them through the free grommets and tie a knot so that they cannot come out of the grommets (Fig. I - Appendix).
Note: It will not be possible to attach these handles if a rope has been installed, as all the grommets will be occupied.
NL
Extra drag handle
• The drag handle can be useful if 3 operators are needed for dragging.
• The drag handle should be attached to the belt closest to the patient's head by means of the spring catches (Fig. J - Appendix).
Applying the hoist straps
• Total can be hoisted using the two orange straps supplied with the device.
• The straps must be positioned underneath the stretcher, then passed through the dedicated slots (Fig. K - Appendix)
• After releasing the straps from the inside of the stretcher, adjust the length of all the ends so that the stretcher can be lifted horizontally, then attach the spring catch to
the ends of the straps.
• Hoisting is only allowed from a fixed position.
