5.2
Filling the filter casing with quartz sand
The filter casing (2) should be filled with approx.. 4 cm of sand. Place
the riser pipe (4) on the centre of the casing base with a rotating
movement so that the filling and centring aid can be placed onto it
without problems. Now the filter vessel (2) is filled with filter sand
(according to table 5.2.1). Attention: absolutely no sand may fall into the
pipe (4)!
Now the 6-way-valve (10) can be placed on the riser pipe (4). However,
first remove the filling and centring aid. Mount the valve (10) including
O-ring (9) with the two support ring halves (13), screws (14) and nuts
(15) centred on the filter casing (2) if necessary, align using rubber
mallet). If required, use a pipe wrench to tighten the support ring (13).
Finally check the centred seating once more.

Use the correct grain size: A grain size that is too large reduces the
filtering quality, whilst a grain size that is too small results in the
sand also being flushed into the pool. Ideal grain size: 0.4 mm to
0.8
mm.
