measured value (e.g. 34.58µF) will be compared to the pre-set reference val-
ue. The difference is more than 1%. So there will be an acoustic signal (6 x
beep) to indicate that the difference is more than 1%. When you press the
"TOL" four times, the standard is 20%. The capacitor is now within the admis-
sible tolerance with 15.3 %.
D12b) Measuring tolerances without fixed values.
During the measurement, press the "TOL." button. The "AUTO" sym-
bol for the automatic range selection will disappear. Instead, the
"TOL" symbol will be displayed above the main display. Now also
press the "SET" button. The upper limit (e.g. 10.00µF + arrow symbol
"^") and the lower limit (e.g. 07.50µF + arrow symbol "
played for a short time. Connect the voltage-free component to the
measuring leads (or the measuring base).
Example: The upper limit was entered with 10µF, the lower limit
was 7.50µF. A 10µF–Elko is connected to the measuring leads.
When you press the "TOL" and "SET" buttons, the pre-set values
10.00 and 07.50µF are displayed for a short time, and then the
measured value of 09.70µF. Then there is a long acoustic signal. The
percentage of "- 67.67 %" is displayed in the small display. The
measured capacitor is 67.67 % below the standard of 30µF.
The second function of the button is the number "9".
Warning!
When short-circuiting capacitors, there can be high-voltage
discharges. Warning! Danger to life!
Do not touch the terminals of capacitors with voltages over
35 V DC or over 25 V AC. Be careful inrooms where there are
or could be inflammable gases, vapours or liquids. == >
Danger of explosion!
Do not carry out any measurements of capacitors that are
built into circuits/circuit elements. Do not connect voltages.
The instrument might be destroyed. Do not measure live
resistors (of components or leads!), inductors or capacitors
(possibly mains voltage or high voltage!) Warning! Danger!
