Air Filter System
The air filter system can be adapted to
suit different operating conditions by
installing a choice of filters. Changing
the filter is quick and simple.
The saw comes standard with either a
fabric filter or a fleece filter.
Fabric filter
For normal operating conditions and
winter operation.
Fleece filter
For dry and very dusty work areas.

Cleaning the Air Filter
If there is a noticeable loss of engine
power
Remove the carburetor box cover.

Move the Master Control lever (1) to
the stop position 0

Turn the twist lock (2) above the
rear handle 90° counterclockwise.

Lift off the carburetor box cover (3)
vertically.
Removing the air filter

Clean away loose dirt from around
the filter.

Take out the screw (4).
N
Remove the filter and separate the
two halves.
Cleaning the air filter
N
Knock the filter out on the palm of
your hand or blow it clear with
compressed air from the inside
outwards.
If filter is caked with dirt:

Wash the filter in STIHL special
cleaner (special accessory) or a
clean, non-flammable solution (e.g.
warm soapy water) and then dry.
Do not use a brush to clean the
fleece filter.

Always replace damaged filters.
