a) CABLE ATTENUATION
Defines the attenuation value of the connexion cable that is connected to the inputs
of the meter. It allows compensating this value from the obtained measurements.
b) INPUT SELECTION
It selects the signal input to the meter:
Input A: left connector for low levels of signal. Input recommended in order to
receive signal broadcasting due to its greater sensitivity.
Input B: right connector for high levels of signal. Input recommended for signals
lead or broadcast by means of directive links. For measuring signals transmitted
through access points (AP) to the network.
The input selected, appears indicated in the upper part of the display by means of
the symbol
in the operation modes: SEARCH, SCAN and ANALYSE.
c) MEASUREMENT TIME
Time period on which the equipment is waiting to receive valid packages coming
from some station that is transmitting in the channel analysed.
IMPORTANT REMARK
With the aim of increasing the meter sensitivity this value can be set between 50
ms and 10.000 ms in steps of 50 ms.
Longer periods of measurement facilitate to receive data from stations with weak
transmission levels or too far away from meter, but they can slow down the
measurement process for SEARCH, SCAN and ANALYSE functions.
To exit the SETUP configuration menu and return to the main menu, press the BACK
option from the lower selection box, or the direct main menu access button [12].
4.2.3 SEARCH operation mode
The SEARCH function allows making a search of all the transmitting stations in
the ISM frequency band.
In the display appears, for each detected station and by this order; the channel in
which it transmits (CH), the name of the station (SSID), the authentication code (MAC),
the symbol (
) whether the station is encrypted, the power of the received signal
(PWR) and the signal noise ratio (SNR).
