6.3 COMBUSTION AIR INTAKE

During operation the wood insert takes in a certain
amount of air from the room where it's installed
(except for the "Hermetic" series products that can
take in air directly from the outside); this air must
be replaced through an opening to the outside from
If the wall behind of the wood insert is an outside
wall, make an opening for drawing in combustion
dimensions shown on the product data sheet at
the product technical details.
Make sure the combustion air intake or the version
with external duct is not accidentally blocked.
placed on the outside of the opening; in especially
windy areas or places exposed to bad weather,
install rain and wind protection elements.
If it's not possible to make a fresh air opening in
the wall behind the wood insert (not a perimeter
wall), an opening must be made on the wall in the
room where the stove is installed that faces the
outside.
Standard UNI 10683 prohibits combustion air
being drawn in from garages, combustible material
If there are other heating wood inserts in the same
room, the fresh air vents must guarantee the
required volume of air for correct operation of all
the wood inserts.
6.3.1 Fan air intake
6.3.1.1 The standard solution is shown in Fig. 6.3.1 where:
A = Indoor recycle air intake to the heating circuit fan,
located to the side of the cladding with a protection
grille or slots.
V = External renewal air intake to the heating circuit
6.3.1.2 Solution for distributing hot air in more than one room
(up to 120 m2).
The solution for heating a large room or several
rooms (up to 120 m2) is shown in Fig. 6.3.2.
If a large room is to be heated, the air intakes A and
B must be made on the side of the cladding.
If two rooms are to be heated, the air intake A must
be made on the side of the cladding and the air
intake B must be connected to the second room.
It is prohibited to connect the air intake B to the
kitchen, bathrooms or bedrooms.
In this type of installation the external air intake V
is not necessary.
Depending on the method adopted, we recommend
you mark the position of the air intakes on the
the trial assembly.
