In the M-PCM system the twelve servo channels are divided into
three groups of four servos (servo channels 1 ... 4, 5 ... 8, 9 ...
12). Signals are fed to the servos in each group virtually simul-
taneously, and for this reason they run more synchronously than
would be possible with PPM.
Tip: wherever possible assign associated servos to one
group (see transmitter operating instructions).

These receivers work safely with four-cell, five-cell and six-cell
NiXX or 2S LiPo / 2S LiIo receiver batteries, corresponding to a
voltage of 4.0 to 9.0 V.
Note: if you wish to use a five-cell (six-cell) NiXX battery,
please check that all the servos and other components
(especially gyros) are approved by the manufacturer for use with
operating voltages of up to 7.5 V (9.0 V). If you wish to use a 2S
LiPo (2S LiIo) battery, please check that all the servos and other
components (especially gyros) are approved by the manu-
facturer for use with operating voltages of up to 8.4 V (8.2 V).
Note: ensure that power supplies are in good condition
If the radio control system is to operate reliably, a receiver bat-
tery in good condition and of adequate capacity for the particular
application is absolutely essential:
Use high-quality receiver batteries of adequate capacity ex-
clusively, and take the trouble to condition, charge and
maintain them properly.
Ensure that cables are of adequate cross-section. Battery
leads should be as short as possible. Keep the number of
plug-in connections to a minimum.
Use only high-quality switch harnesses.
Brief collapses in battery voltage lasting a few milliseconds
have no adverse effect on the receiver, whereas longer
voltage collapses to below 4.0 V can cause malfunctions.
The cause may be a faulty or almost flat receiver battery, a
pack of insufficient capacity, cables of inadequate cross-
section, poor connectors or an overloaded or defective BEC
system.

ONNECTIONS
These receivers utilise the UNI connector system, which is com-
patible with the connectors used by most radio control equip-
ment manufacturers (e.g. HiTEC, robbe/Futaba, Graupner/JR).
The receiver sockets are marked as follows:
1, 2, 3 ... 7
Servo sockets, channels 1, 2, 3 ... 7
(... 9 or 12)
(... 9 or 12).

9.1 Setting the RF channel / first use
M-PCM receivers are fitted with a modern frequency syn-
thesizer, i.e. plug-in crystals are no longer necessary. The first
time you use the receiver (and also whenever you wish to
change the channel) you will need to carry out an RF channel
search (frequency scan) in order to set the receiver to the
transmitter's RF channel. During this process no signals are sent
to the servos; they can safely be left connected to the receiver.
Setting the desired RF channel:
1. Extend the transmitter aerial to full length, and keep it at
least three metres away from any other transmitter. Switch
the transmitter on, and set its transmission mode to M-PCM
(not PPM!).
2. Locate the SET button on the top of the receiver, and hold it
pressed in with a pointed object; at the same time connect
the receiver battery to the receiver, or turn the system ON
using the switch harness.
3. Now release the SET button: the receiver's (STATUS) LED
flashes at a high rate (LED code 2,
the receiver is searching for the most powerful RF channel.
Note: the first time you use the receiver the RF channel
search will start even if you do not press the SET button, as
no RF channel is set (factory default setting).
4. If the receiver picks up an error-free M-PCM signal, the
(STATUS) LED lights up continuously (LED code 1,
Now move any transmitter stick four times to the same end-
point. The (STATUS) LED will switch OFF / ON in time with
the stick movement.
This procedure allows you to check that the receiver has
stored the correct RF channel and transmitter.
5. After this the (STATUS) LED flashes to confirm it has stored
the channel:

6. Disconnect the battery, or move the switch to OFF.
7. Switch the receiver ON again, and it is ready for use. The
receiver's (STATUS) LED flashes slowly and evenly (LED
Code 3,
9.3) if it is picking up an M-PCM signal. If not, it
lights up constantly.
If the (STATUS) LED stays off, the battery voltage is too low.
Fault-finding:
Re. 3.: the (STATUS) LED does not stop flashing at a high
rate: the receiver has not detected a transmitter signal of
adequate power. Move the transmitter closer to the receiver,
and check that the transmitter aerial is fully extended. Is the
transmitter generating an RF signal, i.e. is the transmitter's
LED flashing?
Re. 3.: the (STATUS) LED goes out and stays off. Is the
transmitter set to M-PCM? Is another transmitter switched on
close by? The process must be repeated from Step 1.
Re. 4.: the (STATUS) LED does not go out when you move
the transmitter stick: the travel of the servo channel is
insufficient
try using a different stick. Alternatively: the
receiver has logged onto a different transmitter.
Re. 5.: the (STATUS) LED does not flash the confirmation
signal after you move the stick four times: the battery voltage
is too low. Recharge your receiver battery, then repeat the
process starting from Step 1.
Re. 7.: the (STATUS) LED does not light up when the re-
ceiver is switched on: battery voltage is too low.
